It was on the driver's side near the exhaust pipe. It looks like a cover or something because it's contoured. I know nothing about cars and don't know if this should be put back on. Please help!

You don't say how big it is but it sounds like a hanger for your exhaust system. It holds up the exhaust pipe or muffler or converter. You should have it replaced and make sure nothing else is wearing out under there. It shouldn't be too expensive. Take it to several reputable muffler shops and get some estimates.

If it's made out of metal it's probably a heat shield. They are usually mounted between the body of the car and the exhaust system to prevent excessive heat from the exhaust from coming in contact with the body or heat sensitive components. Take the car to your local muffler shop and ask them to weld it back on. It shouldn't cost you more than $20.

oh no!!! Its falling a part

If you give a little more description that would be helpful.
About how big is it? Were you driving when it fell off? did you go over a pothole or scrapped the bottom of your car over some pavement?
It could be a bracket or hanger for the muffler or tail pipe
By the way I don't own Eclipse but I came across this site it might be useful to you.

It might be an exhast pipe heat shield, but whatever it is I wouldn't worry about it.
