Car starts when it wants? Here's the problem . When I turn ignition dash lights are on and anti theft light goes out but nothing happens at all. This happens at least twice a week and has been happening for past 6 months. Eventually after turning ignition on anywhere from 1 to 30 times it does eventually start.
I have had it to 2 different local mechanics who have run electrical test on starter and battery and checked all connections and say everything tests OK. Of course the car starts all the time when it is being serviced for the problem. Recently just had new battery installed (unrelated to problem, had original in car) at the same time had electrical system and connections tested again and all checked out OK. Happened again today. Took 15 minutes before it would start. Drove to ford dealership and said the best they could do was for me to leave it and they will try and start it and try to duplicate the problem otherwise not much they said they could do? Any answers?

The carwash was the spray variety, and thank goodness I bought the cheapest (and therefore briefest) cycle. There was also detergent in the spray. The engine was running fine for the few miles home.

Sounds like it is suck in "low gear" and when you try to accellerate to go faster than 40 miles an hour it hits passing gear like when you punch it but nothing happens. Going up a hill it just SLOWS DOWN, cannot accellerate up a hill. Any ideas on repair for the return home?

i have a mazda 626, i stopped at a gas station, it wouldnt start. no clicking no nothing. The battery seemed to be working fine, the phone was still charging and the radio/headlights/etc were working and did not dim. Is this definately a starter problem. If so how much does a starter normally cost (with a mechanic doing it) and how long do mechanics normally take to do it?

Sometimes my horn won't honk at its fullest honk level. I am serious! Sometimes it sounds very muffled and quiet and barely honks. I heard it could be a fuse, but if that was the case, wouldn't it quit honking all-together? Sometimes it honks normally, but usually the first time in the day when I press the honk button/section of the steering wheel. After that, it does the very quiet, muted honk. I drive a 99 VW Jetta. Why could this be? Everything else runs normal in my car. I want to know some opinions before I take it into the dealership. Thank you!

Saturday morning when I tried to start my car all I heard was a click I called around talked to a couple of so called experts & they said it was between the battery & the starter I had it towed to a car service place about 2 in the afternoon they went to go push it in the garage & the man got in the car & it started right up They ran some tests & told me everything was fine About a hr later when i tried to start it it almost didnt start. So i took it back & i showed the man but the car wouldnt do it again It was workin fine until yesterday It stopped again I should mention that who ever had my car before rigged the stereo system all wrong When I turn the headlights on the stereo comes on plus there was some other wires dealing with the stereo on the sylenoid The wires were takin off the sylenoid tried to start it & at least this time the motor would actually turn over but it wouldnt start Hooked up the jumper cables & it still wouldnt start came back to it bout 2 hrs later & it started

My car has a really rough idle and runs funny at low speeds/rpms'. however, when i'm on the gas there is no loss of power. I figured it might be the egr valve because it does seem to be leaking (did some tests), but when i pulled it off and covered the intake port it didn't make any difference in performance (i'm guessing it should have solved the problem). so, now i don't really know what it could be that's causing this. i've checked all the vacuum lines and they seem to be fine. also i sprayed carb cleaner around the intake and there are no leaks there. please help...i'm really confused now.
