Can a potential buyer request that his mechanic check out a used vehicle before it is purchased from a car lot? Can the vehicle be taken off the lot in order to have it checked out?

Will you allow someone to tie you with something worthless! That's your right...you are paying for it and you have every right to get the best of your hard earned money.

yes you can,,i run a repair shop in Tennessee and i get a lot of these to check out,,and it,s a good idea,,because it could save you a lot of money,and aggravation,,but ,take it to a mechanic you know and trust well,,and he will give you an honest opinion on the car,,and if the dealer does not like the idea,,you don't need to buy that vehicle,,because he may know something,,that he doesn't want you to know. i hope this help,s some.

If they don't let you than they are trying to hide a major or minor defect that may not show til you get enough miles on the vehicle that the warrantee has expired

you have the right to have a mechanic to look at the car,but can only take the car off the lot with the dealers permission

i sell cars for a living and i invite all of my customers to do so. if they dont let you there is something to hide.

definitely if you are not comfortable with inspecting it yourself have someone you trust do it if the dealer will not permit it they are crooks run away from them...

i have ALWAYS done this. none of them have a problem with it... at least unless they know the car is bad
