Sounds like the brakes are either worn all the way down and you are now grinding on the rotor, or one of the calipers is loose and ********, causing metal to rub against the rotor. If you don't know anytihng about brake systems, I would take it in. If you have even a little experience, I can help you walk throught the procedure of finding the problem.

I've never heard a car make "growling noises." But if you mean grinding noises, that can be either the front struts, or the brakes. Possibly even the tires, if they are no good, they will make funny noises, but you'd usually FEEL that. The brakes don't ALWAYS make noise if there is something wrong, it can happen intermittently. You should really bring it to a mechanic, and tell them when, where and how you experience the noises. If you can't keep track, write it down. Like, "Monday 7/17, made growling noise when turning left into driveway." That way you can see if there is a pattern. Like, a certain direction it is turning when you're braking, or a certain angle. Also, if you just got it one month ago, you should take it back to the dealership who sold you the car. OK? They usually have a certain amount of time in which you can go to them with problems and they fix it free of charge. Good luck with that, car problems always suck.

No. There is an early warning system on brake pads that sound when you press the brakes to let you know before it gets so bad that the gringing happens all the time. No matter what, I would take it back to where you bought it, and tell them to fix it.

If you bought it from a dealer, take it back to them to have it checked. They should fix it even it there is no warranty. They sold you a vehicle with a problem. Before they sell a car they are supposed to give it a safety check. If they sold you a car with an undisclosed problem they will fix it. If you bought it from a private party, take it to a shop and have it checked.
