Maintenance & Repairs - July 2006

Iam restoring a 1979 bronco and looking for doors. There are 3 ( lmc truck, jeffs graveyard, & jc whitney) places i found them all are within about $25.00 which is not bad. Its the shipping that is the money saver but i know people who got repair panels from jc whitney and there like a tin can ( very thin gauge). I was wondering if anyone got a complete pannel, or doors if they come a heavier gauge?

i need to change of place the alternator, but if I put the alterntor in other place change the direction of pulley, works the alternator?

Clicks off all the time can't put gas in at a normal rate. Have to go realllll slow and it still clicks off. I'm lucky to make it to .75 cents before it clicks off

I fully charged my battery at a local automotive shop but my batterry light still is flashing when I accelorate my SUV. MY battery hand is not moving though, but last night it did untill I recharged the battery. My car still runs, it's just the battery light keep flashing. How long untill the truck stops if I hav a bad alternator.

My car makes a rattling sound when slightly pushing the gas and going slow, then after driving for a few minutes, the oil light will come on when the car is stopped or at very low speeds and it begins to overheat. What is the problem? and any estimates of the repair costs? It is a 1995 Ford Taurus GL/SE!

I have a 1998 oldsmobile Bravada. I was told my compressor needed to be replaced as it leaked the freon out. Instead I plan on just re-filling it each time it leaks out (which takes 4-5 months) I hooked up the guages and it said it was at the bottom of the green zone. I filled it to the top of the green zone, but still no cold air. The compressor doesn't kick in. I was told if I jump it the compressor will run, suck in the freon and be good to go. The guy I talked to said once it gets a certain level down, it won't kick in, but if I jump it, then it should work. I have an old 2-wire jumper I used to use before with older style compressors, but ti won't fit on this vehicle. How do I jup it to get the compressor to run long enough to suck in the freon in the system?

My engine light came on and the dealer said they cleaned my throttle body and reset the engine light but if it comes back on then I will have to replace the throttle body. I have a long distance move coming up, is it safe to drive my car on this move? What does a throttle body do anyway?
