There is a brake light switch about half way up from your brake peddle and the pivot for the brake arm[brake peddle attached to this] it is more than likely your trouble SHE COULD BE RIGHT BUT THIS ONE IS MUCH EASIER TO FIX AND CHEAPER TOO CHECK FIRST

Sounds like your brake light switch is open. Crawl under the steering wheel and look up at the lever for the brake pedal. There's a switch there and that switch is most likely bad. Jumper the two contacts to confirm that the brake lights come on. Good luck.

It could be the switch where the wires hook to where the brake fluid triggers it.

check your wiring it may be shorted or fried look at it and then see ok?
