I have a 1998 oldsmobile Bravada. I was told my compressor needed to be replaced as it leaked the freon out. Instead I plan on just re-filling it each time it leaks out (which takes 4-5 months) I hooked up the guages and it said it was at the bottom of the green zone. I filled it to the top of the green zone, but still no cold air. The compressor doesn't kick in. I was told if I jump it the compressor will run, suck in the freon and be good to go. The guy I talked to said once it gets a certain level down, it won't kick in, but if I jump it, then it should work. I have an old 2-wire jumper I used to use before with older style compressors, but ti won't fit on this vehicle. How do I jup it to get the compressor to run long enough to suck in the freon in the system?

One lead will be to ground (usually black) the other will be hot (usually red.) Connect the red wire to the positive terminal on your battery with the A/C on and the engine running. Careful you don't catch any part of yourself or your clothes or hair in the accessory belts.

Hey hows it going. I am an AC Delco sales rep. You can't jump the newer compressors like th old ones. You have to check youre clutch cycling switch. The other way to tell if your comp. is working is to turn on the heat and put the setting on defrost (on your windshield) in that stage the compressor should cycle, freon or no freon. There are easy fixes to a leaking compressor as well. my e-mail at work is kyle.boyd@gdauto.com. let me know. see ya

What you really need to do is to find the low pressure switch which should be near where the low pressure line [the fat one] goes into the firewal and jumper it. after you're full just plug that puppy back in after you shut the motor off.

Put a jumper wire where the A/C clutch relay goes!
