I have a 2001 Chevy Venture. It did not come with a c.d. player, so I purchased a Sony, had a friend hook it up (following the basic directions) and it got power (meaning I could put in and eject a cd), but no sound and no lights on the faceplate. We thought that perhaps it was the faceplate of the c.d. player, so instead traded it in for a slightly higher quality pioneer. Hooked everything up the way it appears it should be... but nothing. No power period. Is there some trick to my car that I'm not catching? The adaptor fits both ends and the wires are matching. Any ideas?

Will I have to put my mp3 player in the trunk and just let it play, or can I use the controls on my dash to change songs, etc?

Also I wanted to be able to use a the car charger to keep the MP3 charged and powered, but would I be able to do that with those AUX hook ups attached?

I was wondering if anyone could help me figure out where the problem lies.

I have a GMC Envoy (not sure if that matters). For some reason, my rear speakers keep going out; actually they come and go. They definitely aren't blown out because they sound fine whenever they come back in.

I'm not sure where to find the wiring to those speakers to see what is wrong. I've noticed that there is some wiring behind my glove compartment when I unhook the door and let it all the way down.

What can I check to make sure that all the connections are tight? Something definitely seems to be loose.

Thanks in advance.

The stereo in my 2001 Sebring just quits working. Sometimes the station lights will stay on but no music and no buttons or knobs will function. I have to disconnect the battery and it will work again for a couple of days. Any idea? This has me totally stumped.

I recently got a car cassette adapter for my MP3 player and technically everything would have been good but the cassette player won't play correctly. It will begin to play but then it ejects the cassette. I tried using another adapter and it does the same thing. I was told removing the gears and access junk in it might help, but now it just spins without stopping. I pulled the panel off in attempt to clean the cassette deck, but even after removing all the screws I can seperate the frames. It appears to be held together by something inside. As a last resort I figured I could just buy a replacement one on ebay. I saw a cheap replacement panel with the cassette deck for a cheap price, but it's rotary knobs not digital push buttons. I was wondering if anyone knew if the rotary knobs would work inexchange for the digit buttons? The panel is for the same 1999 Ford Taurus so I figured it would be okay but read otherwise. Can anyone offer any advise otherwise for me to do to repair or replace

I have an aftermarket pioneer car stereo and it keeps losing power when I am driving. It does not lose all power because it keeps its programming, it just cuts off and wont turn back on for sometimes a few seconds and sometimes 10 minutes. It is not the deck that is messed up because it did this with another deck. I am thinking this is not a power problem, but an ignition problem. Any help is appreciated.

My old head unit bit the dust. I tested all of my speakers (only front ones were factory stock) the old fashioned way: a D-cell and 9v battery. All gave contact static except for right front. I bought a set of Pioneer 4"x6" for the front, installed, and retested. Every speaker now works.

I bought the Alpine CDE-9870 head unit (my first Alpine) and a new wiring harness. I wired the harness and Alpine plug together (except for rear speaker plug, which is no longer in use). I plugged the Alpine in and it turns on. However, there is no sound from any of the speakers (except for small pop when turning the head unit on).

I tried the POWER IC setting (both on and off) with no help. I hooked my Bose into the external RCA connections. Both of those produce sound, but nothing to the car speakers.

I tested the speaker lines with my original speaker, with no results. I also tested with a flashlight bulb. Nothing works.

Bad head unit or bad wiring?

Thanks in advance,
Doc

Are they for GPS or Cell phones? Or possibly Satellite radio? I thought they were mostly on the BMWs but honda now has them, Acura, newer GM cars. They are typically mounted to the rear and are the same color as the vehicle. I am looking for a something of the same but for satellite radio. Where can I find an after-market one that's compatible?

It says that it's MP3 ready and on a website I read that that means you can hook up your MP3 player with it, I have the cord to hook it in with, I just don't know how to get it to work. I don't have the manual so I went to the websie and they have a manual you can download, but I'm unable to download Adobe Reader for some reason.

So can someone let me know how to figure it out? Or go to the website, look at the manual and tell me how to do it from there, or get a "Capture Screen" from the part of the manual I need and send it to me? Anything? It'd be so much appreciated.

Here's the website...

so my mtx thunder tc3001's manual recommends i use 4 gage for best result but i dont have any so i used two 8gage wires to run from the battery to the amplifier as well as for the ground (2 8gage from ground to amp) so my question is will it amount to as much power as a 4gage or even close ? and is there any risk? a guy at a stereo place told me it would be ok,it should amount to just as much power as a 4gage...but just want to double check i dont want to blow anything up

I was trying to fix my power antenna. I took a guess and started connecting different wires. Connected blue/white from pioneer radio to 12v constant. Now my radio and clock doesn't work.

I checked all fuses, none are blown. The cigarette lighter and all the other lights work.

Need your help, what else could it be if it's not the fuse?

i bought an in-dash dvd player (alpine IVA-D105)yesterday but have yet to get it installed. i was just wondering whether the law prohibits the use of the screen if a movie isn't even playing while i'm driving. what if the screen is only showing the title of the track on my ipod or something? would i still be breaking the law? besides, i'm not planning on running a movie on the screen while i'm driving. i just want to be sure before installing it because i have 6 more days before i can change my mind and get a refund. thank for the help =)

I have an alpine cd player thats maybe 4 or 5 years old in my '93 jeep wrangler. Every time I start the jeep all the settings on the cd player get erased. The bass, treble, ect are back to 0 and the time says 12:00. I have the constant on wire[red] hooked directly to the battery with an inline fuse and the acc wire[yellow] pluged into the radio connection on the fuse block[thats how its set up on wranglers]. I thought that the constant on wire is what allows the settings to be saved?

I'm getting ready to do a very custom sound system in my 03 Eclipse GTS. I will be running a 4-channel amp to 4 type-R Alpine speakers, all rated at 4 ohms. Is it possible to bridge 4 ohm speakers down to 2 ohms (for the extra RMS wattage I can get) without losing the four independent zones (left, right, front, back).

i recently installed a jvc cd player into my 95 s10 and didnt buy the wiring harness kit, just hooked it straight up to everything. my problem is, when i turn on the parking light, the stereo cuts out and everything in it resets. i could easily take out the fuse that controls the parking light, but then i wont have access to my 4wd cuz the electronic transfer case switch runs on the same fuse...

any ideas on what may be the problem?

thanx in advance
