My car stereo will read only original CDs, it wont play copied CDs. Could i knw the possible reasons for this?

I have a toyota corolla 2004 top of the line with single CD player. i have tried burning MP3 into CDA format on imation CD-R. but it wont play. but if i play originals it is perfect. am very confused here. anyone help???

This is a common problem with many factory auto CD players. In fact, some units are described from the manufacturer as being unable to play burned CD-Rs. The lasers from these (mostly older) units are not as refined as newer models, hence the optic arrangement on some CD-R discs are too precise for them to pick up (read) properly. There are several things you can try, all of which have worked for me in different instances. First, try burning your music on discs that are labeled "AUDIO CD-Rs" instead of those marked "general use" or for both audio and data. If that doesn't work for you, try burning the music at the slowest burn speed of your recorder. (Higher speed burns are sometimes harder to read on older CD players.) Lastly, if neither of these options work, try burning your music on an audio CD recorder instead of a computer cd burner. These recorders add audio index information that some specialty players look for before playing them. Good luck.

alot of stock stereos wont play "burnt" cds, but 99% of aftermarket stereos will, just the downside of staying stock.

I'm clueless, but Crutchfield is supposed to have good customer support. They're probably more interested in helping their customers than in helping non-customers, but perhaps they also realize that helping non-customers is a good way to turn them into customers.
