i recently installed a jvc cd player into my 95 s10 and didnt buy the wiring harness kit, just hooked it straight up to everything. my problem is, when i turn on the parking light, the stereo cuts out and everything in it resets. i could easily take out the fuse that controls the parking light, but then i wont have access to my 4wd cuz the electronic transfer case switch runs on the same fuse...

any ideas on what may be the problem?

thanx in advance

You hooked the ground wire from your radio straight up to the illumination wire in the radio harness. The illumination is a dark brown wire and may test as ground because there's not much resistance through the parking lights, but when you turn the lights on suddenly there's 12 volts on that wire and the radio shuts down instantly. Re-connect your ground to the right wire or to chassis metal and it should solve your problem.

You need a harness kit. It has seperate wires to connect the Player to the Ground on your battery - Make sure you get the proper gauge wire too otherwise you could start a fire.
