I would like to know how to get rid of my car which is worth 17,000. I paid off 4,000 already and have 13,000 more to go. I am looking to get a cheaper car but the dealerships are saying that I need to put a 5,000 down since my car isn't worth 17,000 anymore in order to get the car I want, no matter what the price of it is. I would like to know if there is a way I can privately sell my car in order to pay it off and get the cheaper car instead. Thank for anyone who advises.

I just got a new job that I start in 3 weeks. I will be driving 500 miles a week just going to-and-from the job. I am looking to save on gas prices...I also go mountain biking a lot and am looking for a little utility option too. I've looked at a new Nissan Versa, a used Toyota Prius, a used Toyota Matrix, and a new Honda Fit. I know what all the features are of these vehicles...but based on what any of you have experienced or know, some help would be most appreciated!!!

I'm a student and I have 5000-6000$ to buy my first car.I've been looking for a while for a good car and I've come down to the BMW 318I.I live in Canada and I might get this car at the 200 000 km mark.I know that owning a car with the much km isn't safe but I only want to keep this car for 5 years max.I know that having a BMW I should expect to pay heavy money to repair some parts but I'm ready to pay the price.I just want to know if this car isn't going to die on me,is this a reaible car?

Thanks!

Is it possible to buy a used car or new car, under $200 a month, when you have no down payment and no job but you have an excellent credit score 800 or higher? This would be in CT.

I have $12,000.00 negative equity with my current vehicle. Am I better off buying a new Japanese-made SUV (Nissan, Toyota, Hyundai, Honda, etc which I can drive well past 100,000 miles) OR.... a luxury SUV such as an Infiniti with 85,000 miles already on it, with a ticket price of $14,500.00

I want my payments around $500.00 a month. Are luxury SUV's (Infiniti, Acura, Lexus, etc) likely to last with all the driving I do with high miles already on them? What about repairs on luxury SUV's? More expensive?

I don't want to pay any major repair bills once the 100,000 mile mark rolls around, which is why I'm trading in my current SUV (American-made) before anything happens with it.

What mileage based on my yearly driving, what would be a good mileage on a used SUV that would last me 3 years, 4 at the most. Japanese made only! I know lots of people who drive their Nissans, etc into the ground with no major repair bills. Any suggetions etc, will help. Thanks!

I am considering purchasing a used car from about 1995 to 1997. The problem is that most have over 100k miles on them. I have heard that banks will not finance a car with over 100K, is this true? If so where else can you get financing? Will you have to pay higher interest rates?

If I let my friend make a bad financial decision, am I an enabler? He wants to buy my old car. It has 200,000 miles, and several things wrong with it. He already owns 3 cars, all of which are old, and in need of repair. I keep telling him to sell all of them, and get a newer car that works. I have even made charts showing how it will cost less. He won't listen to me. He just keeps repeating, "I can't afford a car payment". Should I let him buy my car? Or should I tell him "No, I won't let you make another bad decision".
