I am thinking about getting a different car, because mine is pretty much gone, and I was wondering....?

How is the 2005 Chevy Malibu LS MAXX Hatchback? I have read a few things on the internet and so far I am iffy on the whole buying it thing. I need some advice. Should I get a Chevy Malibu or not? And please back up your answer, good or bad, with a good explanation. Thanks.
Please explain in depth why you say no, if you say no.

I am looking at one that is $9,988. Is that a good price for this particular car?

The MAXX is not a flashy looking car (okay, I think it's kinda homely) but it is very functional and sensible. I think the rear sunroof and adjustable seat is pretty cool, and the hatchback design has more usable room than a regular trunk. Consumer Reports rates the reliability as average, but considering modern cars are pretty reliable as a whole, that's not bad at all. If you like it, go for it.

$10k seems like a good price but it depends on the mileage and options the car has. Go to kbb.com and price it out. Keep in mind their quotes are quite inflated, I don't know anyone that actually ever pays blue book value, but it'll give you a ball park figure.

I love American cars so I could be biased, so I'll tell you the bad points I can think of. I don't particularly like the style of the MAXX even if it might have some functional advantages because of the rear door. Also I suppose the LS is the model with the fewest options so be sure to get a good price on it, I don't know what that would be though.

You need to have it scanned for codes but most likely a passlock issue. When it won't start note if the security light is on. If it is the theft deterrent system shut it down. If it has a dtc B2960 you need to replace the ignition lock cylinder. I replace several a week.
