I am looking at buying a 1997 Dodge Caravan with137,716 miles on it for under $2,000. Is this a good buy.

Maybe. Have a good mechanic look it over. You may find that the $2,000 is just the start of the costs.
If the car is basically sound mechanically, it is okay.

Any Dodge with mileage that high is not a good buy. Chrysler transmissions usually last 80,000 miles. Some engines fail at 120,000 miles. If you have all of the specifics on the vehicle, go to www.edmunds.com. You can use the site to figure out the market value of the vehicle.
