The seller only wants people who are genuinely interested in buying the car.
A tyre kicker is someone who wanders around the outside and looks at the car rather than get under the bonnet. They don't really know what they are looking at or even what they are looking for. They're just out for a jolly in someone elses car!

when people buy cars some take an 'expert' with them. they will say the car is rubbish and is worth half of the asking price, just by giving the tyres a quick kick with their boot, the expert of course- the tyre kicker- will usually know nothing and just waste the sellers time. its like saying, 'be realistic- i'm not going to give it away- dont waste my time'... no tyre kickers please!

It's a term given to know alls that think they know all about cars when in fact their only knowledge is to embarass themselves by kicking the tyres and saying 'looks all right to me' - it's the only part of the car that they know the name of
