A colleague of mine was involved in a car accident - when exiting the motorway she was hit from behind by another car who in her opinion was travelling too fast.

She has a feeling that the other car driver was uninsured, but can not guarantee that - at the scene he provided her with his name, address, mobile phone number and nothing more. She also provided him with the same details for herself, and both drivers made a note of the other drivers registration plate number. As it turns out, she was not up to date with her payments and so her car insurance was cancelled prior to the date of the accident. She is very worried about this, she has spoken to her (old) insurance company but unfortunately could not get much help/advice from them and was wondering if you know of the possible consequences of the situation, and a way forward too?

It is a 1987 S-10 short bed. It is in decent condition with working tailgate and taillights. I need to sale it to get it out of my garage, but I don't really know what they are worth. If anyone could help me out, I would appreciate it. I just don't know where I could even look to see what the bed of a truck is worth. Thanks ahead of time.

I'm 17 & live in the UK and have £1500 for a car but not £2000 for the insurance.

Can I get an insurance where if i have an accident I pay all charges or they take away my parents house. Because I'm just not going to have one so I don't care.

Or an insurance where I give them a fixed amount of money ie £1000 and at the end of the year they give me back 90% if i don't crash?

I bought a 1999 Ford Mustang a while back and the previous owner had put a knob on the shifter that has lights and stuff - not really my style. When I bought the car, it came with the original shifter knob in the glove box, but I cannot seem to figure out how to take the current one off and replace it with the original. I have pulled up on it, tried to twist it off, tried to push down and twist... Does anyone know how to do this? Thanks.

Ok, my rotors do not show any grooves. I do not run my brake pads that low! Second, if I get my rotors turned do I need or should I replace my brake pads, too? Let me say this again, there is NO visible grooves on the rotors. The reasons I ask is because when I brake I can feel a pulsing sensation in my brake pedal and a shimmy in my steering wheel. I have also heard that replacing brake pads while getting my rotors turned is a good idea. Reason being is that even though there are no visible or physical traces of uneven wear, the fact that it's measured in micro meters will not show any physical or visible sides of said uneven wear.

PLEASE DO NOT ANSWER if it's an opinion. I prefer to hear from shop owners and/or mechanics that specialize in brakes/rotor.

Recently i heard that some supersport four stroke motorcycles are using an automatic choke similar to cars. I was thinking to install such a system to my motorcycle but i dont know what parts i need. I dont know if this system is only available to injection systems, as my bike is a four-inline cv-carb.
I think it would be possible, by installing a heat sensor in the collector box to an actuator that would operate the choke lever?. But maybe i need something else to prevent the engine being flooded?.

I have an 1988 Toyota with a 4AFE engine. It uses a small oil filter. For the prior model year of cars with 4AFE engines, 1987, Toyota recommended a filter which was larger than the one they recommended for 1988. Same engine, same model car, but for some reason they changed the size recommendation of oil filter to a smaller one. Can I switch to the larger filter -- which is made by the same manufacturer? It has same filter material, but more of it, although probably it has a lower oil pressure due to its larger volume of filter, and, of course, I would need to add a bit more oil, but I never run the engine topped off with oil -- don't want to blow a gasket. I usually fill up to 95% of capacity -- my car's tolerances allow up to one quart low.
