Here's the best way to do it. Advertise it as a "crash pad" on Craigslist.org (it's free). You can try other sources if that doesn't work.

Let's say you have a house that would rent for $1000/month. As a crash pad you'd be renting it to airline employees that commute (i.e. they live in another city and fly in when they have a flight). Typically they'll show up the day before and need a place to "crash" for the night. They'll typically be willing to pay $100 - $150 per month (it's cheaper than getting a hotel every time they're in town). The good news is that you can rent it to 15 (give or take) people because they won't all be there at once. This allows you to collect much more rent than if you rented it to one person.

You'll need to furnish it, though. Just get some inexpensive furniture, 2 beds per room, cable, internet, etc. I've seen people do this in Milwaukee and it works out pretty well.

Well you are not going to get a major airline to rent your house out but you may have luck with a smaller regional airline or charter company so approach the owner and see if they need a place for pilots or students training to be a pilot and you might have some luck.

You could always place an ad to rent in the local paper. As crazy as it sounds some people love living near the airport!
