Any ideas? Is it the motor, gears, track, oil, etc.? Year of car = 1997 sebring JXI - convertible

god this is why I hate sebrings the motor is gone . I used to have one of those and the thing shook so bad past 55 it made me crazy . I hate chrysler motor cars and from what I hear I am not the only one . good luck .

These use motor and vacuum relays. Have the roof lubricated. If you do it yourself, call the local dealer service department and ask what the proper lubricant is. If that does not work, then you are looking at motor replacement.

I would leave the roof alone--- could get stuck down during the worse rain storm of the century. It is a 97 and things do not last forever.... Going to the shop is your only option for repair... .

yup.. it does sound like the motor is gone. Sorry.
We had that happen on the first one... Our second one has other issues.. (electrical problems)... They are beautiful cars tho... and motors do go on other ones too...

Kate-- Ours did that too... It was the motor mounts that cuz that problem. ..
