I have a 1997 Volvo 850 & my breaks squeak 96% of the time when I drive. I had a mechanic tell me that I could haul *** in reverse and slam on the brakes a couple times to smooth out my brakes, but I want to know what your take on it was.

Also if there's any ideas or remedies you have I would definetly appreciate it because my car and school buses are the only cars I hear that squeak this bad.

Ps The brakes arent bad, they are just squeaky.

I was driving along when suddenly the "emissions" light started flashing, then the car started shuddering violently. It seems to ease as I accelerate, but increase as I slow. I checked the oil after it started and added a quart. I also added a cleanser to the gas tank to get rid of any water or sediment in the lines. After several drives it still shudders and the light keeps flashing. The manual says it's something that will damage the catalytic converters and might cause a fire. What should I do? Has anyone had this problem before? It's a 2000 ford taurus se with 171,000 miles.

This guy rear ended me while I was at a red light the other night. It left a softball-sized dent in my bumper, and on my rear quarter panel. I could'nt find my insurance card, and he could'nt find his. He said he would rather take care of it ourselves. He told me to take it to a body shop and he'll pay for it. My question is, do I still have rights if he decides to flake, since I called niether the police, or insurance company.

Toyota wants $95 just to look at it. The service rep on the phone said it could cost up to $500 to fix. Is this something I could get parts for and fix myself (I did replace a broken door handle myself once).

I live in California and I am a plumber, but I can't get a job because I have 2 points on my record, how can I get rid of one? One is an accident, and the other is a ticket, which will be up in March, but I may have been eligible to take traffic school. Can anyone help?

Am looking to buy a complete pre made kit car. Dont want to build it just drive away.Have seen the Dax rush and Marlin, also tiger and robin hood type. All look fairly tasty. I wont be racing it, just having mid life crises and fancy something sporty. Willing to spend up to £4,000. Am mechanically minded.... Any ideas ?, What should I be looking out for ?
