First I think all bikes should have licence plates and be given an instant fine, if that does not work have a lorry driven around with a couple of coppers to confiscate any bike on the pavement, give the owner a fine if it happens again crush the bike or send them abroad where they might be of use.

Not much you can do as the government is encouraging people to use their bikes but the police are not enforcing the law.

I do not mind kids on the pavement but adults should use the public highway.

Last summer I was knocked down by a cyclists and now have a big scar on my leg.

Do these people have insurance?

Make the roads safer then cyclists will be able to use them with out being flattened by speeding motorists.

That means more speed cameras and more cycle lanes

They drive me absolutely crazy too. But unless there are specified by-laws in your community, they have every right to be there. As for common courtesy, well that's another topic altogether. Check to see if there's any by-laws in place, and if not, right a letter to the town council/mayor, etc.
Sitting back complaining isn't going to do any good. You have to go through the right people to make it work.

A very simple answer which will never happen.

All users of the roads and pedesrtrians should learn to respect other users, stick to the rules/law, and not assume their journey is the most important one ever.

Ask your local government to provide bike lanes and appropriate signage ("Watch for Bikes") on roads.

People ride on sidewalks because they get abused by drivers on the roads. Make the roads better riding places, they'll go there. Sidewalks are actually undesirable for cyclists, unless the roads are worse.

Try standing in front of them, yelling 'GET OFF THE PAVEMENT!!!', flapping your arms around and then chasing them down the street. If that doesn't work, then I can't help you.

Where I live, the cycles are required to stay in the street and observe traffic laws. If they are on the sidewalk, they are ILLEGAL.

I say, clothesline those scofflaws. (accidentally, of course)

If it's little kids, leave 'em alone. They should stay out of the street
