i have a 1992 nissan maxima and when ever i depress my cluth it does not come back up which it should looking for some ideas of what i can check or do to get it working again

If the clutch doesn't work at all it is a clutch hydraulic problem, either the master cylinder of slave. check the fluid: the clutch cylinder is nextr to the brake master cylinder.

The Nissans all have hydraulic clutches as far as I know.

Make sure its not empty , check the reservoir, its possible you have a leak in the hydraulic system. Have it checked by a Tech.

This clutch system is hydraulic and does not use a spring or cable!!!
It is most likely your slave cylinder or master cylinder but it should be diagnosed by a professional auto technician.

Could be the cable or the pressure plate. Had problems with both.

There is a spring somewhere on the cable that pulls it up..find it and fix it
