my engine over heated causing me to blow a head gasket. i took the air intake, exhaust manifold and the head off of my engine. there was no damage to the cylinders or pistons but i really needed to replace all of my gaskets, so i did that. but i wanted to know what caused my engine to overheat to begin with. i think my radiator might be clogged because i couldn't drain the radiator until i too off the air intake. we drained my coolant resevoir and it didn't drain all the way, the bottom is all black. so i don't know if it a tube or if it is the radiator but i don't think my cooling system is working right. one of my spark blugs was melted by this overheating

My wife had me to take her 1998 Ford Taurus to get an inspection sticker in North Carolina. New NC State laws require some cars be given an OBDII test if check engine light is on. The car failed the test with a trouble code PO125 which is Insufficient Coolant Temperature for Closed Loop Fuel Control. A while back the heater core apparently went out on it because there was coolant all in the floor on the passenger-side and the heater would only blow out cold air when the heat was on. We by-passed the heater core and I did replace the thermostat on it. Can you give me any advice of what to do without it costing me an arm and a leg to repair it? We have 30 days to repair it or we will have to pay for another inspection.

My son was involved in a collision this morning. The driver of the other vehicle pulled out right in front of him and he rear-ended them. The driver of the other vehicle was cited for failure to yield and the state trooper that handled the accident said that the collision was unavoidable on my sons part. The question concerning me is that my son did not pay anything for the car he was driving because it was given to him by my daughter. The car has a salvage title because it had apparently been totalled before but had been restored. The car probably would not be worth very much even had it never been in an accident because it is a 1986 year model Pontiac 6000. Now he is without transportation unless I provide it. Will they only be required to pay a salvage price for damages or what?

I am looking for actual owner comments. How do you like the performance? The maintenance? Is it really cost-effective once you get it home?

My 2006 Mazda 3 check engine light is on, but not blinking. The dealership said that it's not serious if the engine is not blinking and that it is ok to drive. Can anyone else out there confirm this is true? Has anyone else had this problem with a Mazda 3? They say it can be a loose gas cap. And that if i drive for 100 miles it should turn off.

My boyfriend brought his 2001 Volkswagen Jetta into Jiffy Lube for an oil change. Before the 3,000 miles was even up, the car started making noise and the oil light came on. He took it to the dealer and they have to relpace the oil pan and plug. The oil plug was not put back in properly and was stripped, causing the oil to leak out. If he had let it go just a little longer, the entire engine would have needed to be replaced. The bill is $527. Is Jiffy Lube liable for something like this? Or do you sign away rights when you get the oil change?

I picked up a rental vehicle this morning while my car is in the shop for repairs from an accident. The employee from the rental company talked me into getting the supplemental insurance saying how it'll make things easier in the event of an accident. Not realizing that my own auto insurance will work on a rental (it's mandatory to have auto insurance in Massachusetts), I went ahead and purchased the CDW. Knowing what I now know, is it possible for me to opt-out of the rental agency's protection plan and use my own for the remainder of the rental period? Even if I have to pay for today, I'll do that. Beats having to pay for a whole week's worth.
