Since my car is no longer under warranty, and it has turned 100K , I wonder if a new or rebuilt exasperator should be used for replacement. My new mechanic recommends getting a new one as the rebuilt ones are not usually reliable. The new one will cost about $250 plus labor but the rebuilt one costs only $175. Any experience or advice concerning this matter?

1999 Subaru Forester. Turn headlights OFF, dash displays are bright, turn headlights ON, dash displays are dim. There is a lead that controls this (for example, behind the clock), but how does it work? The reason I'm asking is that I have a 2004 Forester stereo installed and no where to attach this lead. Thank you.

I was taking the old thermostat out and my neighbor offered to help. The bolt broke off in the hole so the cover is off but cannot be replaced as the broken stem of the bolt is in there. What can I do?
