change the oxygen sensor it is clogged with carbon it is not burning oil it is not the motor oil any time people see smoke the first thing they think is oil or motor also run some injector cleaner through it this will help to clean it out the o2 sensor will cause it to burn to rich and cause it to smoke

Hi,
Engine Chugging When driving When warm
Q: The truck seems sluggish; it does not accelerate smoothly. It's running rich, and blows black smoke out exhaust under load. What should I do?
A: It sounds like the fuel pressure regulator may be out of range...... If this is a change over year - still equipped with a carb - look for the choke stuck on... Ed
Best to get it to a garage.
Black Smoke: Black smoke is caused by excess fuel that has entered the cylinder area and cannot be burned completely. Another term for excess fuel is "running rich." Poor fuel mileage is also a common complaint when black smoke comes out of the tailpipe. Black smoke out the tailpipe is the least cause for alarm. Excess fuel will usually effect engine performance, reduce fuel economy, and produce a fuel odor.
How did the fuel get into the cylinder in the first place? Some of the causes of excess fuel are a carburetor that is out of adjustment, a faulty fuel pump, a leaky fuel injector, or a faulty engine computer or computer sensor. If black smoke is present, check the engine oil as in the white smoke example to make sure excess fuel has not contaminated it. Do not start the engine if a heavy, raw fuel smell can be detected in the engine oil. Call your mechanic and advise him of what you have found.

This penguin was driving his car into town when it suddenly broke down. He got out and pushed it to a nearby station. He asked the mechanic if he could look at his car. He said it would be about an hour or more. The penguin asked the mechanic if there was a ice cream pal-or near by because he loved ice cream. The mechanic said yes matter of fact it's right across the street. So the penguin went to the parlor and ordered a half gallon of vanilla ice cream. With his flippers he ate all the ice cream which took him a little over an hour to do. He went back to the station to check on his car. The mechanic was looking under his hood then he looked at the penguin and then at the car and then back at the penguin and then back at the car and then back at the penguin and said looks like you blew a seal! The penguin said no that's just vanilla ice cream.

one thing would go bad and it will cause the other things to go bad. it is the same with small engines. if the main thing is causing a few other things to go bad but you do not know that the main thing is bad, you spend the money on the parts, they go bad again and you need to find out what is cusing the main problem. so, if it is believed that the problem is fixed, but the parts that were just replaced all of a sudden go bad again(right after you replace them) you pay double what you paid in the first place for parts because the mechanic did not complete the task by getting rid of all of the options.

Carbon buildup or too much gas in the cylinders would cause black smoke. Gray/Blue smoke would be oil.

Burning oil, probably an oil leak through the piston rings, or a blown gasket.
