i know this isn't a question or answer, but its an event that was quite interesting to me.

There was a train derailment last night in Waukesha, Wisconsin. There were three engines (Wisconsin Southern Railroad) and fourty five cars. two of the three engines derailed, along with seven cars.
the train did not hit anything, or anyone. it's listed as problems with the tracks.
this specific track had just been relaid back in June / July this year. the last of the tracks that had been relaid was two weeks ago.

there was a huge crack found along the new set of tracks in the cement.
the derailment forced a few homes to be evacuated (there was a large rail that was bent, and was feared that it could fling off and crash into the nearby homes.
the derailment really put drivers at a standstill, as the main roads in, and out of the city here, were closed off.
Just wanted to share my day from last night.

What is the purpose of these huge bumpers? They appear to be either stainless or aluminum tube, strongly welded. Are the fibreglas hoods that fragile/expensive? Also - I'm seeing a lot of 'supertires' (two LARGE tires instead of four per axle). Does this depend on which state allows them? And WHAT IS UP with those LOOOONG (2 or 3 or 4) trailers in Michigan?

I've had the alternator checked 3 times and the dealership can't seem to explain why I keep going through batteries. The first 4 were covered by the warranty, now I've had to pay for the last 3. I am very frustrated because they say there is nothing wrong with my car. This can't be true.

Ok, so I bought a vehicle from an aunt who is moving out of the country. I paid $15,000 for it. When I took the title(pink slip) to the DMV, the lady told me I have to pay $1200 in taxes. What gives? Is this even legal? It doesn't make sense at all. Taxes were already paid on that car when she bought it from the dealer, and now since I'm making a private transaction I have to pay taxes on that? I live in California buy the way, if that helps. Any comments and or suggestions for an alternative will help. Thanks in advance.

about five years ago it was speed bumps, last year it was mini roundabouts and this year its traffic lights and most of these things dont need to be where they have been put and hold up traffic even more.

My dodge stratus(2001) got sort of screwed up about a month ago. I was on the freeway and it started knocking the engine was smoking and the car wouldnt go over 30mph. One mechanic said it was a blown engine, BUT if that was the case the car wouldnt run. I am going for a second opinion but i wanted to know if any of you CAR LOVERS can tell me what you think would be wronf with my car and about how much do you think it would cost to fix it? please dont be rude or obnocious in your answers. ANd if you dont know please just dont reply, you are only doing it for the points i am sure...
I would greatly appreciate your input and answers!
Thank you

I have a rough beacon (550) and in need of a 2nd car as my wife and I are sharing one. I just want to get a 5000-8000 loan and have payments around 300-350 a month. I do not want to go to a nuy here pay here dealership. I would rather deal with an individual selling a car.
I tried www.eloans.com, but they said no. I only make 30k a year and the wife makes 19k.

Thanks
Devon

I drive a 1980s model car and someone broke into it last night using a metal file to pry the door open. Today I've emptied out any remaining items that might tempt thieves and I'm buying a steering wheel lock. Can anyone give me some practical advice to prevent future break-ins? The doors were locked and the car was parked in a well-lighted area.

Should the drivers exam be more difficult so new drivers are better educated and informed and thus reduce accidents and road rage since they will know better what is expected of them? Should the written test and the road test be one of the most difficult tests they'd take in their life so to either make better drivers or keep the bad ones off the road?
