It sounds like you have a weak fuel pump. When you are going uphill it does not have enough pressure to allow the engine to run. It could also be a bad fuel pickup in the tank. Does it happen when the tank is completely full, or only when the fuel level is low. If it happens with a full tank, check your fuel pressure. If it only happens with a mostly empty tank, it is the fuel pickup!

Could be fuel pump or pick up as suggested. Could also be mostly plugged fuel filter, cracked or rusted gas line allowing air to get into the fuel system, or an internal carb problem such as float in the carb adjusted too low.

take it in. i had this happen to me once with a 1980 Monte Carlo. just took it in and sold later.wanted a GNX
