I have a 94 Civic DX Coupe. This past weekend on a work trip, my car broke down, and I had to abandon it to finish the job I was working on. Now the car is about 400 miles away, and I need to do my homework before I figure out a way to get back up there.
On my trip, my temp gauge was normal for most of the time, but then slowly rised, and periodiclaly it would drop back down, then slowly rise, and repeat. Eventually it was running all the way in the red, and i pulled over to prevent damage. The ol' turn the heater trick wasn't working, so I parked it overnight, let it cool, and put in fresh coolant, and the car returned to normal for about 100 miles. then the same symptoms. I turned on the heater, and I couldn't even get hot air... I think this means no hot coolant is running through my heater, which means my water pump is bad??? Is this a proper diagnosis? How much does this cost to repair? It may not be worth my trip up there to repair this car.
Thanks.
