Looking primarily for highs and mids. I have a Pioneer DEH 6800 head unit, JL VR's in the rear deck with a Rockford amp, and a 8" Bazooka in the trunk. Not looking to be heard 3 blocks away, just looking for crisp, clear sound, that I can pump once in awhile

4x6 might have better low end but a 4 should do the trick for highs just install a bass blocker if you want to use them for a while. Personally I would make some fiberglass pods and install a 6.5 component set and Mount the tweeters on the a-pillar or at least high up on the door panel for proper sound stage and imaging

4" round. I have never seen a good 4x6 speaker that sounded good AND cost cheap. many of the 4x6 are really substandard in their sound and the good ones, like boston acoustic or infinity, will cost A LOT of money. 4" rounds have a whole bunch of different models from different makers to choose from. you have your lick of the litter so to speak. if you can, I'd recommend you get a speaker set which gives you a 4" in the door and a satellite speaker you can mount anywhere. best bargain for the money.

If your car takes 4x6 sized speakers, might as well put them in. If you have decent speakers, the highs should sound fine. If you have tweeters you can replace, then even better. Or, you could always get coaxial speakers to get more highs, but just the 4x6 should be fine so long as you get decent speakers.

It would not should be particular "Ipod audio gadget" ! seek for the technical information ! they might desire to be: 20 - 20.000 Hz, ( minimum ) 32 Ohm (isn't exciting with an amplifer inclusive) a tricky membrane, in case you wanna hear Heavy Metall, or a comfortable one in case you wanna hear each little thing else ! seek for lots ability, which you would be able to get ! :- ) lots achievement !

Well, since you have a mount/opening for a 4"x6", then that's what you should put in.
