My husband is deployed right now, so I filed our income tax with a POA, everyhting was going good and then today the lady from H&R block said they could not give me my return because the IRS has a hold on it. She said it may be for past debt to the IRS, but neither I or my husband do! So could there be another reason?

I no longer work for a company and I am waiting for my W-2 so that I can do my taxes (and get my refund). When is this company required to have them to me by? Last year I had them by now, but I called recently and they are not "around" at this time.

I give cash every week at church, and under charitable donations it ask for any cash amounts. I give the same amount every week and it isn't much, but in a year I give 3,840.00. It helps with my taxes, but my question is if it is legal for me to put in on my return. I don't have a reciept for it, I just pull the money out of the ATM and drop it in the basket. On the 1040 form, it doesn't say anything about it, it just asks how much you donated in cash. I hope this makes sense. Thanks!

My friend and I bought a house this year. Now I am stumped as to what to do for income tax time. Can both of us file for the house on our income taxes or just one of us? What about the improvements we have done such as a new kitchen and new bathrooms and baseboards etc. Can that be claimed on income taxes as well? Someone please help!!

i alway did my tax w/o any tax software by using the 1040 ez form.

now the scenerio has changed for this tax year. here are the new changes:

1. earn about $4400 in interest.
2. have a 401k plan with my employer. also open up a ROTH IRA and contributed $1000 to this tax year..

a couple of questions:

1. what tax forms should i be using to file this year?
2. are there any deduction for me? i never have any things itemize or deducted since i was using a 1040 ez form in the past.
3. is it worth to still do it myself or go with H&R block? how much would they charrge me for it?

thx in advance.

I need to know who would get back more money for carrying my daughter. My boyfriend of I. I had her last year in Feb and only worked from about July on, so my income was very low, under 10 thousand. My boyfriend worked all year and made about 22. Who would get back more money for carrying her. I did not claim any dependents when I filled out my stuff for work, and have not gotten my w-2 form in but can go file with my last pay stub. I hope someone can help me with this, because I have heard that the less money you make in a year the more you get back for carrying a dependent. Thanks a lot!

Should I file jointly or seperately -my wife is a Canadian national, works here for the Canadian gov't and pays taxes to Canada. I see that there is a huge (at least for me) difference in my return according to how I file.

My wife hasn't worked in 2 years while raising our baby. She hadn't paid a credit card. The card wants to garnish her taxes, but she has no income. SO if I were to file married, do they garnish that because her name is with mine?? Or would it be better to file seperately? Thank you for any help!!
