I worked for 3 lawyers and they each paid me separately. One of them never even notified the government that I was an employee. Chances are she isn't going to follow through with anything. It's only about $1,200.

I have significant mortgage interest paid in 2006 on my home and all of my income was subcontractor (1099) income.

In 2005, my tax preparer told me I couldn't deduct the mortgage interest on 1099 income but now several people have told me that I can.

Which is it? Can I deduct the mortgage interest against my sub contractor income?

Thanks!

My daughter just turned 17 on dec 27 and has been working at her job for around 3 months. But she has had other job last year.

She is a dependent on my taxes and I recieve Earned Income Credit for her and her son.

My question is does she file taxes this year, She thinks she may have made over 4 or 5 thousand but has not gotten her W2's back yet.

My other quesion is how will it effect my Earned Income Credit? I know she is still a dependent on my taxes this year but I want to know if my Earned Income Credit will go down.?

Also, what are the different amount that you have to make with federal and/or state. ?

I take online classes and am just curious what the difference normally is for the tax refund with classes. I claim myself and make around 24000 a year. Thank you! I am basically looking for a percentage of what you would get back from online tuition.....

I am a partner in a small private investigations company. Our business requires alot of driving and we (my partner and I) use our personal vehicles to do this. The partnership has reimbursed us for mileage driven and I want to know where to show this expense. Do we need to show this reimbursement as income and then show the mileage on a schedule C? Is there another way? Can this be entered into an expense line on the Form 1065? The majority of the mileage we are reimbursed for is a direct cost.

Thanks,
Cody

Unfortunately, I screwed up. I have already filed my 2006 tax return and it has been accepted by the irs and is expected to be here by the 30th. Problem is at the time, I was fine with that. Now something major has come up and I HAVE to have the money by the 26th. A lot of places do refund loans but that is while they are filing your taxes. Since I personally have already filed, does anybody know anywhere that will give me a loan with my irs status and papers without filing my taxes for me?

I was sent a Form 511 & 538-S in the mail along with my 1040EZ(Which I've decided to do myself this year) Do I need to fill out this state form? I've looked on my W2 and it says it took out $500.00 from State income tax. But most of the time, don't you end of paying state taxes? I've never heard of anyone getting their state tax back... (By the way my wages this year were 15,186.99 if that helps anyone!)

So how much do you think I"ll get back? (I know there are alot of these, so I'm sorry for even posting it... LOL) I made $15,186.99 this year (I only worked at one place) and the Federal INcome tax withheld was $1,571.89 (I guess I'll be going to H&R Block to get it done. All I have is a W2 to deal with) I'm single, claim 0, and nobody claims me. Thanks to anyone who will take the time to answer this!
