You will get a 1099MISC, not a W2, since they didn't take out taxes. You will have to file this using schedule C. You can deduct your expenses. Check out www.irs.gov for more info.
You may be able to fill out your taxes for free. If you go to the above website, you will see a link for free online tax help. Click that, follow it to the list of websites and click on H&R Block. That way, you will be considered a client of theirs and you can get free tax help.

If they paid cash, most likely you will get nothing, except maybe a 1099-misc. You can file a schedule C attachment to form 1040, but then you will have to pay the self-employment tax along with income tax, which could run you as much as 30% of your net, in addition to any state taxes.

If they give you a W-2 you are good to go. If they don't (and getting paid in cash doesn't necessarily mean they are doing anything underhand) they should give you a 1099. If they don't even do that, it does not absolve you from the responsibility of reporting all your income (and taking a deduction for any expenses). If you do not get a W-2 the IRS will expect you to pay the employer's share of FICA taxes, which is 15.3% of your business income minus business expenses.

if your employer can't provide you a W2, and if you've had no taxes pulled from your W2, and haven't claimed your wages, then you are paid under-the-table... and you can't file for your tax return, because you have no proof of what you made all year... and since you haven't paid taxes all year, you'll probably owe big time if you file.
