I have been living in my apartment for a year this month. Our lease was month-to-month during that time, and now of course we are month-to-month, but without a valid lease. We have been paying on the 15th of the month, sometimes would be a day or so later, but we would always let them know and they seemed like they had no problem with it.
NOW, we are trying to move. I gave them our 30 days notice, and our move-out date is set at October 1st. They have not called us, written us, nothing ever since we called about us moving. I sent the later a day after and they have yet to contact us. Mind you, when we finally did get in contct with them, it was 2 weeks after we 1st started calling! U can understand myfrustrations.
I called an attorney and he informed me that we are entitled to our deposit up to 60 days after we give our 30 days notice. My problem is: will my landlord attempt to charge for worn carpets / dirty oven that we couldn't use b/c it was dirty when we came and would smoke...

How do I report email fraud in the UK?

I'm looking for a place to rent but I'm getting a lot of fairly legitmate looking emails about non-existent places to rent. They include real information like actual address and photos.

People could easily become victims of this and post off a deposit (and never hear of the apartment again)

What email address can I forward these to in the UK?

ok, me again, i've moved out of an apartment and it needs to be cleaned to get the bond back, I've hired a professional, but he wants me to pay now, then he clean. We're meeting at my unit so he can have a look around.
what rang alarm bells with me is the 'pay now, clean later' I'm afraid I might be cheated out of money, is it normal for moving out cleaners to ask for payment up front?

I live in a section 8 complex but DO NOT pay section 8 rent.
I pay market.

Long Story short, due to "Drug Traffic" the complex has informed me they are paying local police to "be here" along with a security company.

Many arrests have occured in the past 3 months & I am always awkened to some "situation" involving Police & tennants.

Also, the complex is located in a very "high volume" traffic area.
They close the back gate which connects to a traffic light & a highly traveled State Rd. at 4:30 PM to curtail "Drug Exchanges" they say

Problem is, Traffic is particuarly heavy between between 5- 6:30 pm.
Getting out of the complex is difficult to say the least!
Making a left turn is next to impossible!
I would liken closing the back gate, to clogging blood flow to the heart.
There WILL be an accident & tennants will be trapped inside & be forced to be late for work etc.

I have complained & there are a myriad of other issues like mail & lousy maintenance.
Any input??

We are getting married in February of 2009. We want to move next month around my birthday (which is October 14). The apartments are all bills paid and start at $600 a month. They are right next door to my college. We also have a 07 Kia Optima and the car note is $390 a month.

Then, we have to pay for tutition, books, supplies, food and furniture (we live with my mom now lmao we are only 17 and 19!), gas, clothes, savings, etc. He has a job at UPS and will double shift to make extra money to save (like almost $400 a week) and I only work one day a week making like $50 a week (I quit the other job a few weeks ago so I could focus on school). I feel bad about it now and applied at Hollister yesterday. My interview is tomorrow.

So how much should we save to buy stuff like furniture and food?

I am buying a home from Ryland Homes and they keep delaying the completion of it. Is it too late to back out? More specifically, I signed all of the paperwork and they already have $6000 of my money (retainer and other fees). They keep telling me to have my 20% down payment ready, but they keeping changing the finish date. They say that if I back out now, I will lose the $6000. What options do I have...or am I at thier mercy?

A couple of years ago I had an apt in California. A few months before the 12 month lease was coming to an end, I planned to move. Scouted for a new place, found one, made standard preparations. The 1st problem occurred when I was told that the lease was supposed to end a month early. I argued it, but apparently it was a 'typographical error' and they'd already found new tenants, so I couldn't stay the last month.

Second problem. I paid $650 for a security deposit. Now, I don't smoke, have no pets, and was rarely at home. I had no guests, parties, etc, and I meticulously cleaned up the apt before I left. But after I moved I got a letter saying that they were withholding the deposit because they were going to have to repaint and put in new carpet.

There was no damage to the carpet. As to the paint, there was a single, half-inch long scuff, by a chair that had brushed against the wall.

Isn't painting and carpet normal wear-and-tear? Was it really within their right to hold my deposit?

Because our spot is at a beach in VA in November, i want to know if when i trade does it have to be for November somewhere also and if anyone has had a horrible time trading to get the places they choose! Please tell me your experiences.

Yeah, I know, people are saying, "Oh, these poor innocent people were duped" ad nauseum. What a bunch of BS. These people were JUST AS GREEDY AS THE WALL STREET COMPANIES THAT FUNDED THESE LOANS. They wanted that house no matter what. And they knew they could face higher payments in the future. But they went on the assumption that home prices would continue to rise 10+% a year and they could dump the house for a profit if they could no longer afford the payments. Soon we'll be subjected to all the Congressional hearings with all the droopy-eyed liberals like Chuckie Schumer blaming the Wall Street fatcats, etc. We'll get to watch Joey Biden listen to himself talk for hours on end. And make no mistake, these Wall Streets guys should NOT be bailed out. They knew EXACTLY what they were doing. They talk tough about "free-markets" and no government interference when times are good. But when the sh!t hits the fan, they want Mommy Government to bail their sorry asses out.

Hi Guys,

My family and I were in Virginia Beach, VA yesterday and were invited to a time share seminar by Ocean Front, Gold Key Resorts. Anyway, we gave in when they worked down a cheaper price and never told us anything about a loan. When wrapping the process up we completed lots of papers at rapid speed, the representative basically telling us what he thought we should know about each form, anyway one of the forms was a loan application which i noticed and outright asked if they were going to take a loan out on us which he firmly assured me they were not and they were only for filing purposed, naive of us i know but we trusted him. Now i get home and read that there is a semi hi interest rate attached so THERE MUST HAVE BEEN A LOAN DONE. Some of the paperwork we initialed made us sign off, without realizing it, that we understood everything when we signed. It was done yesterday, how many days to GET OUT AND HOW???????? HELP!!!!
