I live in a second floor apartment in NJ. My downstairs neighbor constantly blasts music and stomps around and slams his doors deliberately. And I do mean deliberately, since he is pretty threatening. I have asked him twice to turn down his music, but neither time worked, and the second time, he told me to stop walking up and down the stairs. So, I contacted the management and they apparently sent him a letter telling him to stop. It didn't. I called the police, it didn't stop (they never seem to really help). But now he's starting to threaten me and my boyfriend, who doesn't even live here. Is there anything I can do to get out of this lease (which is up at end of May) based on these threats? Can I legally keep it but not live here? I fear for my safety (and basically everyone else's) and my health (since I'm epileptic and the stress of this isn't helping me). I have a cosigner on this lease, so I don't want to just up and ruin his credit too. Any way out?

I want to buy a scrap of land next to my house to use as parking. Currently it has bushes and shrubs on it which are maintained by the comapny who own the land. We want to offer to buy this land, but are not sure how to start-

should we involve solicitors straight away? any experience and advice would be appreciated.

I've found out from the land registry who owns it.

I am talking about the type of house that you see in 'A Nightmare On Elm Street'. The suburban American style house with the front porch. What is the name for this type of house?

Thank you.

I am planning to purchase a house in NY,NY. I wanted to understand key (legal or other) differences between buying a Co-op and buying a Condo/ house from a buyers' perspective. Are there any consequences when I sell the co-op or condo? Do Co-ops have difficult rules regarding approval of transfers (at the time of sale), occupancies, etc.?

Do you have to pay it immediately after you inherit the property? What if you sell the property, do you still have to pay the tax? Can you make payments on the tax if you don't have the money to pay it immediately? What if you didn't know you were going to inherit property, and you don't have the money to pay the tax?

I'm a college student, living in a dorm right now. For my third year of college, next year, I want to get out of the dorms and live on my own. I live right downtown in the loop right now. I've visited some surounding neighborhoods, but still dont know enough about them to know where to live. I'm really tired of the loop. It's a great place to go to school and work, but I'm really looking for an actual neighborhood that is more slowed down.

I really like the area around Lincoln Park, Armitage. I would like to live near cute shops, in a friendly, bright area, but is also a neighborhood. I don't want to live in a high rise.

Any ideas on the most appropriate place? Somewhere that is safe of course. I was looking up apartments, but didn't know what area to look under.

Thanks for the help!

Recently my shower broke from the wall while I was manipulating it (there was a spider in the shower I was trying to get rid of!). The house is at least 30 years old and it is the orignal fitting. I wasn't intentionally causing damage (such as pulling or tugging on it), just moving the shower arm up, down and around, like you would if you were altering the height of the shower, however the real estate agent has told me it is my responsibility to get it fixed. Looking at the shower arm the join where it broke looks rather brittle and old. Is it really my responsibility to pay for this to be replaced? I am in victoria, australia.
Thanks

I've been married for 8 years, no kids. We've rented apartments and townhouses in cheap neighborhoods and I'm tired of it. I want a place that I can decorate with colors and furniture and improve on without the landlord's rules.

I've done the research thats shows in 2 years it'll cost us the same to rent vs. buy. But my hubby says that I'm being materialistic because I want to own my own place. He says that I should be content with what I have. He doesn't see owning as an asset, rather, he sees it as only being a debt to the bank. We are in debt (including vehicle loans) for about $30,000. we make well over $70,000 a year, and we're very capable of paying our bills, but he doesn't want a mortgage.

Am I missing something? I don't think it's wrong/materialistic to want to own. What do I have to do to get him to see the value of owning a home?
