Maybe it is, maybe it isn't.
Chances are 99.999% that it is NOT real or negotiable.
Who is it from...do you recognize the person or company?
What does it say on the back of the check (read ALL the fine print)...that if you cash it you are then responsible for or have ordered something you don't want?

Bottom line...it's either bogus or there's a catch...no one just gives away $4,955.00.
And obviously, since you posted in the Real Estate section I presume it has something to do with the purchase of some property or land?
Be careful what you sign.....be very, very, careful!
