I am talking about the type of house that you see in 'A Nightmare On Elm Street'. The suburban American style house with the front porch. What is the name for this type of house?

Thank you.

It could be Queen Anne, Italianate or Victorian.

I'm not sure that I can agree with "Babs". What is "Colonial Victorian"? Those are two different time periods that were at least 100 years apart. And Greek Revival came into fashion much earlier than the type of architecture that you describe. In addition, with Greek Revival, the gable end always faces the street meaning that on residential buildings there would not have been a porch in the front.

I think most of those houses are considered colonials, or some varient of that such as garrison colonial, gambrel colonial, victorian colonial, greek revival etc.... Depends on the style elements used.
