I am 23 and living at home working full time and started a small business over a year ago. I am an entrepreneur and I am looking to take my life to the next step by investing in Real Estate. I feel like renting wont ever get me anywhere so I want to avoid it if I can. I live in NY about 2 hours from NYC. Houses up here are 200k +, o r300k for something nice. I have looked into area's down south like SC where i have visited several times... Myrtle beach, Charleston...etc Seems more doable, but I am still single and only make about 40k a year at my job and maybe another 10k with my business in it's first year. I have about 5k in saving's. Will I even be able to make the mortgage payments? Seems kinda close to me taking in car insurance and gas, and groceries. I have Mentioned to my father about an investment together, where we split everything in half and also split the profits when we sell. Where should I start and how much should I save first?

We have a child who has ADHD and SPD. He is wonderful during the day because he is on med's.
However at night he will not settle down, We had tried sleeping medicine and at first that worked but he got use to it and he is already on the highest dose that he can SAFELY get.
I feel very bad for our neighbors because he will keep them up most nights and they just had a new baby so I understand that they would HATE us and want to see us leave.
However now because our landlord won't kick us out due to his disability they are making things up. and we would love to find a new place but we have not found a rental home in our price range and currently we are trying to get a loan to buy a home.
Every time I try to talk to our neighbors about this they walk away.

Does anyone know of any programs that will help people caring for someone with a disability get into there own home?
Or just any company's that will get anyone into a home?

Also any tips on this matter would be helpful...Thanks

Like I said we Really like it alot....Its a 2005 Solitaire Double-wide. In a very nice neighborhood, and its in the country...

House has been empty 6 months. My house is sold and all loans and inspections are finished on both houses. The new owners are moving from 20 hours away, and have 2 kids. They want to take possession immediately after our back-to-back closings next Fri. Since the house we are moving into is empty anyway, what is the rule of thumb on this?

I live on the 2nd floor and my landlord lives on the third floor of private house. His two kids are 5 and 7 and they make too much noise. They run around and wake me up from my sleep. I have told him to take care of this, but nothing has happened. Is there anything I can do. Specifically legally? Thanks

My husband and I signed a lease agreement that the owner's real estate agent presented to us after seeing a place we love. I have never met the owner, nor I am privy to the owner's name, or contact info. We didn't fork over any money yet(deposit) but after all this, the owner asked (through the agent) for a background check which revealed a battery charge against my husband from 8 yrs ago when we were having marital disputes. Now (10 days later) the owner has still not signed the lease. We live in Illinois. Are we liable for rent even though the owner never signed the lease and is continuing to show the property? Can we force the owner to sign and stop showing the place to others?

My new pymt will be over $1500.00. My credit is not too good to refi, I've tried that and the deals are no better than what I have now. With the new pymt, my husband and I will only have $300.00 per month to live off of. We still have to grocery shop, gas up our cars and take care of our children. This appears to be the only option. I bought the house before I got married and have refinanced several times. I now owe too much to sell in our area. If I foreclose will it go on his credit? I don't know what else to do.

I live in NYC. I can rent a 2BR for 1200. Buying a 2BR would cost at least 0.5 Million. It seems MUCH cheaper. Can anyone prove me wrong?

I am selling a DVD player on eBay and a potential buyer wrote and said she only wants to deal with payment by escrow. Its just a small item, about $450USD I thought escrow accounts were mostly for lending and big purchases. I only use paypal and it works fine. Can someone explain what she is talking about.
Thanks!

I am getting married in 3 weeks and my new husband and I are looking to start some investments together. We have the talents and resources to do most of the work in home improvement stuff ourselves. With the housing market so down in Michigan I am just wondering if fixing up and re-selling is a good idea. We could also try purchasing a couple homes to rent. Is this a good idea or would other investments be better?

Someone told me that I am NOT legally obligated to tell property management that I not going to renew my lease for one more year and that I can just turn in my keys on my last day. Is that true? I hate the place I am living at because they don't care about their tenants after they get them to sign the lease so I don't want to give them any notice that I am moving out. Please let me know if you know for sure. I have fulfilled my one year lease and will move out at the end of the month. Thanks!
