Give up everything (except keepsakes)even your home, to move to a place where its warm year around( but much more costly, and housing prices are higher) and live in a much down sized home for the nice weather? I am considering this and need some opions.

Well, I'm sort of where you are considering. Home prices are godawful high, and I live in a 2 bedroom townhouse, but we have great weather throughout most of the year.

My colleague in North Carolina just moved into a brand new 5 bedroom 4,500 square foot house with a giant yard, and paid what I paid for my little townhouse 3 years ago. Maybe today I could buy a 1 bedroom condo here for what he bought his mansion for.

As for the stuff? Stuff is just stuff. Out of everything here, I am actually tied to very little of it. I could pack up the important stuff to me in just a few boxes.

Many people couldn’t care less about acquiring large amounts of money and taking on the responsibilities that go with it. The larger the house you live in and the greater amount of possessions you own, the more you have to worry about protecting them. On the other hand, almost everyone alive today daydreams about winning some kind of lottery or grand prize money. Like beauty, wealth is in the eye of the beholder. There is a variety of the kinds of wealth a person can possess, but monetary wealth seems to be what’s on the minds of most people. There is no doubt that in this day and age most people measure success on the amount of money they have, they can generate, and they can spend. Really it’s not the “I needs” but the “I wants”—the subtle trap of materialism. Are you content and grateful for what life has provided, or are you thinking about the next or better thing you want? What are you more aware of: amazing provision of your current house and furniture, or the material possessions that you won’t have by relocating and giving up your current home? What purpose do you want your home and possessions to serve? Decide whether you are more desirous of impressing others with your decorating skill, artwork, furniture, possessions, or being happy, healthy and content living in the desired location.

Yes you can, Money talks. Do you think, you will find a better job or job in the same line, this is the first line. Because really its about the money. If you don't have money issues then move on, about the down size, how much things you have to move. Do you have any help, any friends, family, over there to help you out in case any think. I like the ideal for the small house, its less work,

Hell No!!! Most places that people decide they want to retire to like Arizone or Florida I "HATE" with a passion. I hate the desert Southwest. It's 120 degrees in the shade in the summer, dusty and BLAH!!! I hate Florida also, especially the central part of the state where most seem to want to retire because it is cheaper. Hot, oppressivley Humid, and UGGGGGGGLLLLLLLYYY!!! Not to mention even the soil there is sandy and it gets in and ruins everything. I like my seasons just fine.

When passing the land of OZ please stop and ask for what the wizard gave the scarecrow. Why are you asking this question ? If someone here said "no" would you lose out on the quality of life you are trying to achieve ? Enjoy your retirement years wherever that needs to be and only ask your own heart whats best for you. Btw, yes I could do that, and would in an instant if it was in my heart to do.

Of course you could, if you could afford it. Do you have a job waiting for you or lots of money in the bank to hold you over until you find a job?
