Try disassembling, transporting and resurrecting an old one...by the time you get it to where it has to go, the damages will far outweigh the cost of repairs using the same materials used in a new house....(Choices....old transportable, new house or established one ).....established and renovated already wins everytime, they are the cheapest and will last the longest.......

I prefer older homes because I too think the materials are not as good as they used to be.

You have to find one with the right combination of quality and price that you find reasonable.
