As an up and coming City-what would be the least that you would pay for a property in this area? It has two bedrooms, lounge, kitchen.

He is saying that he had to replace the carpet in the entire apartment b/c of a burn hole in the living room. He says that he gave me new carpet before I moved in (he said he would, but never did). The burn hole was there when I moved in, and a rug covered it the entire time I was in the unit. The big problem is that I dont' have pictures before and after I moved in.

What are my options?

My wife and I are planning to buy a house, to share with her parents. Some of their capital will be used in the purchase. If they have to go into a nursing home, is this capital taken into account to be used to fund their care.Is there a time limit after which the capital cannot be taken into account?

i am looking at a house that has been on the market for over a year in what i would consider a buyer's market. it is listed at $169,900 but fair market value is only around $140K. the realtor (who is working for the seller) suggests i offer $150K. does that sound right? i love the house and really want it, and it would be worth $150K to me yet i don't want to overpay. i also don't want to start off on a bad note with the seller by giving them a low-ball offer. so what do you think, guys? how much should i offer for this house?

Its for a rental property in North Carolina where I previously lived.
The property manager sent me a letter stating I still owe $400 because my deposit was only $100.
$500 sounds like a lot of money to fix small repairs. Do I have the right to get an itemized list that shows where my money went?

We had a bunch of activity and showings in the late summer and fall but none in the last several weeks. I'm wondering if between the current housing market and the crummy Chicago winter (12" snow today!) it might be better to pull it now and relist it in Feb/Mar. Does that set off any flags in MLS that might scare away potential buyers or their agents? Or is that better than having a house next spring that's been on the market for 8 months straight?

Look forward to any advice!
