Out of all places, why would you want to buy land in such an ugly place? They have great opportunities in Costa Rica, and even just in Baja California Mexico, they have not just lots, but homes on the beach just around the same price. 80K is too high just for land even on the beach.
I'd never do it. That country has nothing good to offer, it's a very poor country.

I would do a lot of research on property values before I committed to purchasing anything in a foreign country let alone for $80K and certainly not sight unseen. I would bet it is worth a whole lot less than that on the local market. You run the risk of being taken big time. How do even know you are dealing with a person who is authorized to sell the property? El Salvador, being politically unstable, would not be a good investment. I don't suppose there are a lot of beach resorts there.

80,000 dollars seem like a lot of money for a lot in El Savador. Property in these poor countries sell for a fraction of what they do here in the United States. You have to physically go to El savador and see the property prices there. The way you do this if by asking people how much they want to sell their place for. Cut that number in half, and that's market value.

El Salvador is a politically unstable country, I wouldn't but a push cart there.

I wouldn't. There's too many places you could invest it a lot more locally.
