This is a broad market phenomenon that is affecting the entire financial sector. Are there actually some CEOs of other financial services companies who looked at collateralized loans over the last few years and thought, "No, there's too much exposure here to the subprime market and, since I can tell the future, I know that subprime mortgages are going to start defaulting in record numbers. So we're going to reduce our exposure to this particular investment vehicle"?

Of course not. It's not like any other human being in the same position would have managed any differently. So why were Citi's and Merrill's CEOs forced out? This whole thing really has nothing to do with them....

Someone from our homeowners association (a legal corp) came to our door in the middle of a party and demanded payment of a 2 mo old past due bill. I said I needed to look at it when I had a moment, to verify. However he said he would just stand there until I gave him a check. Being in the middle of having company I had no choice but to pay this stranger and get on with the party.

My Credit card was stolen, and someone ran over $1000 on it at Wal-Mart. Is there any way I can find out what was purchased, and possibly track this person if they bought electronics, like a PC? The cc company said they would investigate, but I always hear that nothing comes of taht. Please help, or am I just S.O.L.?

All 3 say they cannot allow me to view my free credit report once per year, "because of active military"
Im not active anymore, but I once was.
Is this normal, or a signal that something might be bad on my report?

in may I received two different credit reports. The first one said that an item was deleated and 3 days later another one was pulled and it didn't show up. it' not due to fall off until this month (november). Has it really been deleted or was it temperary. I was going to check at the begining of the year. If it wasn't deleted and it doesn't fall off how do I dispute it so I can get it off because it is supposed to fall off after 7 years I believe

I'm planning on applying for a credit card. So I need to know the ins and outs of getting one. Like pros and cons, what to look for when getting one or which one is good to get. I also need to know what annual plans and fees are and those kind of stuff. Help would be much appreciated.

I'm so nervous and don't know what to expect. I already have all my paperwork ready. The stuff they told me to bring. Can anyone tell me what to expect. And I'm a little confused....I looked on a website about Chapter 7 and 13, we qualify for a chapter 7 because we have 4 in the family and don't meet the monthly income requirements but then it said that if you can pay at least $110 a month then you have to file for chapter 13. Am I mis-understanding something here? Please help! Serious questions only Please!

Hi! I'm looking to get a loan for only about 3000$ so I can compile all my bills into 1 monthly payment. The problem is that I have basically zero credit, I had one thing go to collections for like 50 dollars like 4 years ago but it has since been cleared. I work as a 911 Dispatcher and make about 3200 a month or so. Is there any chance that I will ever get a loan ? I have been applying for credit cards and what not for a few years now trying to establish my credit however noone will give me a chance. Hard to get good credit without an opportunity.

I owe money to some big corporations. They biggest debt is $2000. I haven't paid them anything for over three years because I have no job, I have been studying. I don't care about my credit rating anymore, it will be wiped in 5 years anyway. I heard that a sheriff can come and seize my belongings, is this true? If so, what if I don't open the door, will he break it down??? I'm not paying these people one cent and I have told them that. Can I be arrested? Will the cops just barge into my house like they do for drug raids? I am in Adelaide, Australia.

Some people owe staggering amounts.
When you owe over 3K on a credit card and only pay the minimum payment it would take 10 years to pay it off if you mever used it again.
I believe they should have the interest rate on them capped at 10% by the goverment.
They make enough profit as it is.

Please help!
We're getting some work done on the house and the contractor said that they prefer cash installments (a total of three) as the method of payment and will bump down the price five percent if we pay in cash. If we do decide to take this route, how can we get a receipt to prove that we've paid (one receipt for each installment)? Is there any sort of legal stuff that we would need to do, or is a piece of paper with the amount paid and the contractor's signature suffice?

HELP ME...i got into a financial bind with my credit cards and want to get back on track but they are already at a collection agency. i am in good standing with my car note never missed a payment or late for 3yrs. Should i take out a consolidation loan or file bankruptcy? i really dont want to do that but what other solution do i have? I already had a nasty bill collector tell me that i should pay my bills on time even though he did not know my circumstances. i do know that i do owe but i just dont have all it at this time. I know they have heard every excuse in the book but my excuse is that i just am broke---car broke down, roommate left me with bills and RENT without a notice. I dont want handouts just a guiding hand for me to resolve this issue as quickly as possible.

Last July, I attended a trade show to sell and promote my products. I processed credit cards manually and made a mistake w/ one transaction and over charged a customer by $80. She called my attention after she received her bill and I profusely apologized for the mistake. We both agreed that I will I send her a check for the refund. Then in October, my checking account had been breached and the bank closed it. I transfered my account to another bank. Yesterday, Nov. 2, this lady called me, extremely irrate, threatening to ruin my business' reputation. She said she tried to cash my check JUST YESTERDAY and of course it bounced! I explained what happened and offered to send her another check but she's demanding that I pay her the bank surcharge and interests. Should I be responsible for this? I mean, I understand that I made a mistake.....but wait for 2 months before cashing a check and now demanding that I pay interests and surcharges ?! Does this make sense to anyone?!
