Is this book True is a Rip-Off. He keeps saying it over and over free money in amounts of thousands that never has to be re-paid that the government will give to pay off bills.

I recieved a letter from a CA stating that they are trying to collect on an account from a hospital. The account has been passed on from the hospital to another company (maybe an accounting firm) and then to the CA. The service date goes back over 7 years for one bill and over 9 years for another. This is the first time I have been contacted re: these bills. The hospital has never sent us a bill or tried to contact us. I don't even know if I owe this or if is some type of billing mistake. I know that there is a time limit on collections, but not sure how it is calculated. Has any one experieced this or have advice.

I don't know much about how these companies work. How will it effect my credit score? I have a good credit score now with no late payements ever. Will they close my credit cards? If so, doesnt that hurt my score because it takes away a lot of available credit? I'm hoping to hear some success stories if possible. Thank you all and have a wonderful holiday season.

I received my credit card statement today, and there was an unauthorized charge on it. The strangest thing about it though was that the credit card used was the OLD account number, which has not been in use for several months! Our bank issued us new credit cards months ago. How could someone get a hold of the old credit card number and use it, when that account number is no longer useable??? Please help! I have already contacted the bank and disputed the charge, as well as the place the purchase was supposedly made- the transaction does not show up in their system, based on our names and adresses. HELP!

ok i just turned 18, recently got my own car insurance. I would like to know, if your auto insurance would bring up your credit score or seeing that I have no credit, add to it? I know that some companies are checking credit before giving a quote, but i dont know if it would in any way help your credit.

Thanks

I want to know if being a US citizen, with a socia security number allows credit bureaus to report information on me and make a credit file because I just want to know what law allows them to do this and if there is anything I can do to remove my information from the credit bureaus, or can I control what credit bureau gets what information?
The government has too much control.

Here is my situation. I have $7500 I owe on a 0% credit card that expires in March 08. I want to transfer that balance to a different 0% credit card in February to avoid finance charges. Also have college loans that I am paying back as well so I have a total debt of $15,933. I have a total of $40,000 of credit that I can use spread out through 14 cards. I want to buy a house in a few years. My FICO score is 714. I was 90 days late on a card payment in January 06 and a derogatory mark from April 04 that has been paid (forgot about the card and they sent the statement to the wrong address)

I don't like having these credit cards open. Will closing all these accounts affect my FICO score negatively when I buy a house in a few years? Does closing unused cards make it easier to sign up for another 0% credit card account with a credit limit near $7500?

For example I can go via Costco pay a little more and have all three monitored or go to a financial instituion pay several dollars less but only monitor one of the three credit agencies.
I guess it all depends on how important it is for me and 24 dollars or so more a year... Also - has anyone used Costco credit monitoring system? If so is it good?

Anyone belong to Xtreme Fitness in Edison, NJ ??
I started my contract/membership with them 01/10/06 as a
2-year contract and the time is soon ending. Can I just call them to terminate it or will it just end automatically? Also, it's on an automatic payment schedule with a credit card that my husband has. I'm a bit embarrassed that I haven't used my membership and really don't want to show my face.
I've been a very athletic person all my life but working 10+ hour days and, well, life gets at you sometimes. Bottom line, I think i'm just very embarrassed. Will I be able to just call them to have it finalized, cancelled, be done with?

I haven't paid anything on it for about a year now. Somebody told me that the damage is done already and my credit won't get any more worse from that particular account. Is that true?

Ok here goes:
I'm 19, and am in the process of purchasin a house with my Mrs.
I need a loan for about £5900 (to pay off over about 6 Years at £105-ish a month) to pay the deposit.
I've 2 Credit Cards (with a total of about £1000 on) which I've never missed a payment for, I also have an overdraft of £750 which I use alot at the minute, mainly to pay the credit cards off.

I've applied for 3 Loans in the past week and have been rejected for each one. Using Equifax, my credit rating is "GOOD", so I don't understand what the problem is?
The first 2 loans I applied for were for £8000 (so I could pay off the overdraft/credit cards too), maybe that's why I was declined for the first 2?

If any body know a decent Building Society/Bank/Whatever who will lend me £5900 for a deposit, I'd be extremely grateful if you could tell me. Alos any advice would be much appreciated.

Cheers

I posted a question the other day regaridng a collection agency and I am not sure I worded the question right: my problem is this: I have a collection agency who is collecting for some old tickets from about 10 years ago. They stated that I could make payments, but that they would not report any payments to the original debtor (NOT THE CREDIT BUREAUS) until the whole balance is paid. I am curious as to how the courts are to know that I am making payments and not take further action against me if the agency is not reporting my payments?

I am already in the process of being sued by a law firm who purchased my debt form 4 years ago. I think it has hit the statue of limitations and I'm working to fight it due to lack of funds. But now a second card said they will sue me in 5 days if I do not respond with payment. AHH Thinking about seeing if I can even get a loan to pay these debts and settle the accounts for like 30% off what I owe them should be reasonable. Who would even give me one that's not terrible since my credit score is probably 580 or something Help!
