I live in NC and my wife made poor decisions and got several credit cards when she was 18 and now it's 7 years later and they are harassing still. I know in NC, the statute of limitations are 5 years and they are not allowed to call and harass. She has not paid on the cards nor promised payment in over 5 years so therefore time is up. What can we do to stop the calls and what kind of charges could be brought against them? If there is something I am missing about the statute of limitations please let me know but from what I can tell they don't have a right to be calling. Thanks for your help.

I live in Chicago, and I took out a payday loan and I can't pay it back, I had to do this and I needed the money for a family reason, and now they are calling my job and telling me that when I accepted the loan that I agreed to a wage garnishment that I gave the company permission to garnish my wages. How do I get out of this, I wouldn't let the person talk to my boss, but I went to my boss before they called while I wasn't here. My boss is understanding..but how do I stop the calls, they say that come Monday it will be happening..and that I can't go to court when I told them I wanted to go to court. They wouldn't accept a payment plan..Help please...

I'm currently struggling to pay off a major credit card. I only have a credit line of $1,100, but it seems no matter how much I pay, I can't seem to seem to get it down.

I will admit that at one point this year (after college graduation), I was very dependent on my card and even maxed out a few times, but since then I've been making regular above the minimum payments ($45 to $55). The craziest thing is that I haven't used my card in 2 months but some how managed to max out again. Insane right?

I'm to the point to where I'm considering just paying off my debt with another card. I'd probably cut up the old card (keeping the account open) and make sure to have the debt on the new card payed down to atleast $500 by the end of the "no apr" grace period, but I'm worried this method may put a dent in my credit score being that in total I'd have 2 major cards and 3 store cards (no issues with these).

Do I just tough it out or get another card?

I was wanting to know if someone has the same name can they pull money off a credit card? Example: My grandpa and my uncle have the exact same name except my uncle is Jr. if my grandpa gives him his credit card can my uncle pull money off the credit card because he has the same name? HERE'S THE KICKER: THE CARD DOESN'T SAY JR OR SENIOR IT JUST SAYS: BRANDON NEUHOLD . I WANT TO CONFIRM THAT I AM RIGHT. My uncle has got money with this credit card before. I AM PROVING A POINT TO MY GRANDPA!

We are currently planning on purchasing a house and another car. I pulled my credit scores and am currently sitting at 665 671 and 687. I have about 20k in debt with 8k on my car and the remainder on revolving and installment accounts. Also a majority of my credit cards balances are pretty high. I recently got a new card and did a balance transfer from one card to a new 4.99% maxing out the new card but the new balance has not yet appeared online affecting my score. In three months I will be able to pay my credit card balances down to about 30% of their limits. I was wondering if I took out an installment loan and paid down my balances now to 30% then pay off the loan in three months would that be better or worse than waiting the 3 months and pay then? I'm looking for the best solution to preserve and increase my scores.

I've been using my dad's CC for about 8 months now. Whatever I spend, I would pay it off the same month. This past month, I took out about 3k in purchases. The balance is 6k now, with a 9k limit. Like I said, I've been paying way more than the minimum. My dad just called me and told me that the interest rate has been raised to 35%. We haven't late in 2 years.

I think he must have read it wrong. If not, could they do this without any good cause?

before it becomes illegal. I had up to 7K at one point. My dad was ordering me to spend it. Now, I'm down almost to zero. If I start saving it, how high can I have it go before the government will stop giving me checks?

I had a car that was repo'd. They sold the car and I was left with a 11k balance...

eventually the finance company charged off the debt and sold it to a collection agency. This is how it appears on my credit report. Now shouldn't the collection agency be reporting the balance on my credit report? It says balance due NA... am I off the hook or no?

I had a score over 700, it dipped to 631, then jumped up to 676 after I paid an account in collections. How soon can I bring my credit back above 700 & how? I keep a low balance on my credit cards and pay in full every month, my car is nearly paid off. I am very responsible financially, spend way less than I earn, avoid credit trouble. This situation however, was unavoidable because I never got a bill in the mail.

An account was sent to collections, which was a total mistake. I was never contacted about oweing money for a $32.00 doctor visit that my insurance was supposed to cover untill it was already in collections. I would have paid it if I was mailed a notice, because I had the money in the bank, but I was never mailed a statement. I contacted all parties involved after I saw it on my credit report, and they insisted it was mailed, but I never got the notice. My credit dipped to 631 b/c of this little incident, but jumped up to 676 after found out about the account & paid it.

Who are the people that are defaulting on their mortgages? which companies (industries) are involved in this?
Additionally does this go on in some regions more than in others?
what effects does it have on the economy and our daily lives?
what can be done to prevent further morgage defaults and fix the tumbling economy?
what shouldve been done earlier for this crisis to never have started?
what will happen if this problem isn't fixed in the long run?
