I checked my credit report online today and it shows that I have accounts that are severely past due, but I have no idea what they are. Is there somewhere online I can find out what they are? If not, where can I find out where I owe the money to and for what?

I need a lower car payment. I'm trying to boost my credit by paying off other bills, etc., but that's very hard to do with $600 a month going into a car (and that doesn't include gas!!) My car has been in an accident ($10K worth of damage) and has almost 80K miles on it with $19K left to pay. A HORRRRIBBLE SITUATION!!!

I am starting a new job in 6 weeks paying twice my current salary. While applying for a loan I used the employment & salary details of my new job because I felt it would improve my chances based on the higher salary. Besides the loan repayments start 3 months after it has been approved so I figured I'd already be in the job & saw it as a small white lie. But it appears the lenders checked to verify my employment details & found I didn't work there & declined the application. I was suprised bcos I knew I had a good credit rating and requested for my Credit File & was stunned to find a CIFAS note from the bank saying "(Application Fraud) Correct name & address used but with material falsehoods in personal details significant to application. The facility was refused" I am concerned that this has permanently damaged my credit file. Does anyone know anything about these notes & how I can have them removed. Or am I stuck with it for life?

Recently I opened a checking account with that bank and little later I got a statement regarding credit card balance owed (amount close to what I originally owed - about 2500) with minimum payment due. Basically, it seems very legitimate letter and payments are affordable etc.

At the same time I started getting calls from a collection agency regarding the same exact credit card debt, who said they bought this debt last year and tried to contact me. At first the guy mentioned amount twice as much as I originally owed (about 5000). Then I mentioned letter from bank and he offered to settle for the same 2500. I insisted, and he will send me a letter with his offer. (which is paying over 6 mo period).

My concern is - whom should I pay? I prefer to pay bank However, will I have a problem with collection agency then? How is it possible that I have two creditors now?

Basically, what should I do? I prefer to pay bank, but how can I get rid of the agency

If you get into a car accident with a government vehicle.(a government vehicle hits your car) You have to go to the hospital, and now have these medical bills that are due, can it hurt your credit. They have admitted fault and are going to pay the bills but it will take weeks to get them paid. By then the bills will be past 120-days and get turned over to collections. What do I do? how can you keep this from going on your creditm when you don't have the money to pay it and are forced to wait for on the government to pay.

thanks

I live in NC. In 2003 I defaulted on a $5000 C.C balance. A few months ago a lawyer group had aquired the debt and contacted me. I started paying $100 a month, but missed last month. Now the lawyer is contacting me saying they are going to file papers for a judgment (even though I have no problem mailing in my last payment). I know the SOL is 3 years in NC, but did I restart the clock by making the payments recently? Also, can they file a judgement. And if so what does that mean?

Due to financial difficulties a financed vehicle needs to be returned. Refinancing has been tried. The finance company has been asked to reduce the payments. Were told that if vehicle was returned or repossessed, wages could be garnisheed and full financed amount would be taken, even if the company resells the vehicle.

The finance company is for one of those "buy here pay here" lots.

All i can get now are the 19.5-23.9% rate and $6-$10 a month cards. Some day(6-12 months) I will get the low interest rates and no annual fee cards so what will i do with the others? They will have 6 months or more credit history on them? I don't want to keep on paying the annual fees? If i get rid of them my score will go down! I called one of the card company and she said the annual fee will always be on the card as long as you have it. If i keep them too long too much money going out...Please give me some advise you experts I have 2 cards 3 months now.

I made a settlement with a collection agency to pay a freinds debt for 1500. Even before the agency receives money from me do the pay the creditor (in my friends case which would be citibank mastercar) first before they receive any money from me/ the debitor (my friend). according to my friends credit card statement his debt was paid but i didnt pay anything to the colelction agency yet...what is going on ....did the agency pay the debt and we are responsible for paying back the agency or did the agency or someone else make a mistake? Please help. Thank you.

Ok, so i recently pulled my credit report for the first time EVER. Im 32 yrs old and Im trying to clean up my credit. I had great credit before and ruined it about 5 years ago. Im trying to get back on track and need some advice. I got 8 bad accounts removed from my report and my score went up 35 points which is better than nothing but I was expecting a bigger score increase. Now, i do have an account as an Authorized user with a $29000 credit limit and it has a $26000 balance right now. I dont use it at all it belongs to my sister. She has had me on it since I was 18 yrs old and I only used it up until i turned 21. She has ALWAYS been current on it. Now my question is this. Is that account hurting me more that it is helping me? should i remove myself from that? Its been open since 1997 and always current. Please advise.

My auto loan was charged off about 3months ago and it went to a collection agency they called today and stated they needed the full amount in 72 hours or they are coming for the car. I asked them could I pay $100 a month but they said no. They told me to try and borrow from a relative or friend. I owe 2400 dollars and no one has that kind of money right now. so what can or should i do??? btw in texas and the original loan was for 12,000 in 2001.

Hello, I have a valid debt of $1,000 owed to a bank from five years ago that is not on my credit report. My credit is perfect right now.
I am looking to buy a house. Should I call the collection agency and pay off the debt... or just leave it alone. I am afraid if I call, it will be placed on my report. But I am afraid if I do nothing it could be too. Tough call. Any advice.
I believe the agency made a mistake not placing this on my report
Thanks.

I have 2 credit cards and they're not even that much. I've been paying every month to reduce the balance but after interest charges, it seems to go straight back up. I recently checked my credit score, and it's in pretty OK shape. I know if I get another credit card, my credit limit will be enough to cover for both debts. My plan is to just get a new credit card with no interest for one year and pay them off then cancel my other 2 credit cards.
Is that a safe idea? Will it affect my credit score (negatively) that much to do so?
Thanks.

We have a mortgage for 146,000. Value according to mortage holders is around 205,000. We have a fixed 6.65% rate and have 26 yrs left on mortgage. Current holder could roll all of our debt into home loan and reduce our rate by .25%. Bringing our payment with escrow, insurance, taxes, etc.. from 1460.00 to 1750. Our debt includes 14,000 in student loans, 14000 in credit cards, 15,000 in vechiles as well as 10,000 on HELOC. The question is this almost taps out the entire equity in our home and we would also have a thirty year loan again. Would this be a wise move? Thanks. BTW both of our middle credit scores are mid 720. We make about 110,000 a year.

By paying my bills on time and keeping my credit limits below 25% should my credit score increase by at least 50 points in the next 6 months. I have nothing past due, no open collections, and my last late payment was 12 months agao. I'm currently at 606 and would like at least 650 when I try for a mortgage in April. Any clues on how to increase my score would be much appreciated!
Thanks!

It seems that to have debt is a source of interest on yahoo questions, but more and more people do so this question is not surprising. I'm actually interested to see how many of you do not! Adults only. Please state you age to. This should be interesting! Small amounts I will not consider as debt. Let's say under $100.

I'll go first. 28. $76 I owe for my Metro card I charged earlier this month.

I aquired 2 new credit cards in June (BP and Home Depot). My score immediately dropped from 702 to 641 (FICO). As of today my score has not risen 1 point ! True Credit states the reason is I aquired the cards in too short of time. Now had I been denied the cards my score would have not dropped. My banker says I should cancel the cards and it should go back up. Since the score hasn't risen at all in 4 months I'm pondering doing just that! Any thoughts?
