Long story short, I checked my credit yesterday for the first time in years, and noticed a closed American Express card that is at collections. Shock to me! In researching, found out that my ex-roommate that I kicked out over a year ago opened this account in my name, and racked up $24,000 in charges! I filed the fraud with Amex, and contacted the colleciton agency that it was turned over to. They said they've been "speaking with me" for months about this. Turns out they were calling him on his cell phone, and he was posing as me, and even told them that my father would use his 401k to pay for these charges! I was advised to immediately file a police report against him, and fax it back to the collection agency. Amex is also working the fraud report. I have always prided myself with paying bills on time and keeping a good name. This could prove to be a huge wrench in that. Should I do anything else right now, and what can I expect in the future to clear my name? Thank you!

Debt from a school through job training back in 1999. It was just recently placed on credit and tried to dispute it, but Transunion gave an unclear answer as to why it was not removed. The answer was it is all automated. About $100 dollars was paid in total. I'm not sure how much is totally owed because I was asked the question, it's not my debt.

I have two things on my credit report from two different credit cards. One of them show it as a $0 balance now and the other card still says the amount I owe. I was just wondering what this means.

I had an idea all these credit cards you can get and have thousands of dollars in credit at your disposal, there has to be something you could buy with all that credit and turn around and sell it again and make sure the card gets paid off in 30 days to miss the interest, and use the credit card companys money to make money with somehow? just a thought!

So this is the deal, I hold a credit card with AMEX, and the other day while asking them something, they said that I was pre-approved for the AMEX Preferred Rewards Green Card. If I was to get it, this should help me raise my credit score, since I then can use my current credit card only up to 10% of my credit limit -to help my credit score, while using the Preferrerd Rewards card to collect membership reward points without worring about affecting my credit score. Am I right on this thought pattern??

I have always paid my balance in full ever since I got the AMEX credit card, so I don't think it'll be a problem for me to pay the Preferred Rewards Charge Card in full every month. My concern is, if I get the charge card, would this show in my credit reports? If it does, how would getting the Preferred Rewards Green Card affect the credit report (since the charge card doesn't have a preset limit)?

I tried contacting the AMEX customer repr. but they said it may or may not affect.

When apply for a credit card and it asks you for proof of your gross annual income, what paper should I submit. Will a T4 slip be correct, or a year ending pay stub from 2006?

All I have to do is walk around and get people to apply for credit accounts. I don't know the pay until I pass my drug test. If any of you work for home depot can you tell me about it and how much you make. Also as the credit associate how hard is it to meet your goals?

I forgot to mail in my credit card payment this week. I didn't want it to be late so I thought I would just do a western union quick collect and get it over with. When I called my credit card company to get the codes I needed, I got a man with a very bad Indian accent, he could not help me so he transferred me to another Indian man who also had no idea what I was talking about. After the third, I gave up and mailed it. Why are so many American companies sending their customer service centers to India where nobody here can understand them?

I just closed a credit card account that I've had for four years. I have a few other credit cards (with no annual fees) that I've had for 8-10 years and my total available credit has only decreased by 2%. Also, I only utilize ~20% of my total available credit. How much will my FICO score drop under these circumstances? I haven't used the card in 3 years due to having lower interest cards (only to pay the annual fee). This decision was prompted by a $59 annual fee! That seems high, especially when I don't use the card. The fee will be refunded. Thanks!
