My wonderful , but obviously money happy boyfriend has accumulated around $13k in credit card debt. He has 4-5 credit cards, one with a balance of $7k. He does not own a house. We tried the bank where he has his truck loan through, but he cannot get a loan because he has no collateral. What can he do now? We want to start moving in the direction of marriage and a family, but not with this looming over us. What is the best way to resolve this issue?

I 've noticed that my two credit cards just increased my limits to more than 10k. I've heard that having too much potential credit is bad for mortgage lenders. Would it help if I get my credit card limits down?

I just recieved a call from a law office who told me that they have a bill from a credit card company from 1994 that is from me. They said if I do not pay the full amount immediately then I will be served with a warrant for court and be charged with Mellicioius Intent to Fraud. Can I do something to stop this. I cannot pay the full amount. I had no idea that I even had this bill since it has been so long!

Years ago (when I was less responsible), I made some bad financial decisions...either I didn't pay everything off or I didn't take the time to open more accounts when I had easier opportunities. Now I'm paying the price. Even though I'm now paying off all my debts and make more money, I still need to BUILD more credit to increase my score. How can I do that when no one wants to give me a chance? A co-signer is not an option for me. I understand that I'm still considered a risk, but there's got to be a way...

My car was totaled a couple of years ago and they were supposed to consider my insurance company's payment as finishing off the debt (per my insurance agent), but they didn't. I have heard that you can ask insurance companies to make certain notations on your credit report when you pay off a debt that will make it look better for you. Any idea what they are?

I'm young and had a Visa card for several years, paying it off every month. Now I have a Discover card and I understand credit cards, however I'm in that 0% APR period until August. If I dont pay the full $200 bill lets say, there isnt going to be any hidden fees or interest, right?

For the record, I always pay my bills in full every month, please no "You should pay your card off every month anyway" answers. The whole point of the question is to understand the 0% APR period. Thank you!

I'm only sixteen, so I'm getting my paychecks in cash but I don't have a credit card so I can't order stuff off of E-bay or anywhere else on the internet. My dad doesn't want to get any bills in his name, and he won't let me get a credit card or anything else under his name either so thats out. Anything else I can do?

I am in the process of paying off medical bills that went to collections. I have read other post and see that it does not hurt to ask for a deletion upon payment. If the collection agency is against doing this, what is the next best thing to ask for. I was unable to pay them because I was off of work on unpaid maternity leave.

I have heard many of times that cancelling a credit card will also hurt your FICO score, so to let my credit card company close it due to my inactivity. Is this true? Will it really make a difference? Obviously I want to preserve my FICO the best possible.

3 years ago I had a truck that belonged to my husband, but in my name. We split and I told them to come get the truck I could no longer afford it. Now this was not a finanicial institution it was a buy here pay here place here in Georgia. Now 3 years later they are asking for the remaining balance ($7,000) is there a statute of limitations on how long they can wait to do this? Should I call a lawyer or is it even worth the effort?
