My parents are in debt, about $30k and obviously the min. payments are definitly not going to get them anywhere. Problem is they don't own a home or any type of secuirty for a loan, so a bank loan is out of the question. I just want to know if there is some way that I can check up on a credit counseling agency, I know some can really help, or if there is another method altogether. I am looking into a charity that is connected with the United Way and their services are free. I'd be greatful for any insightful answers!

I'm about to buy some books on amazon.com, and if I sign up for an amazon.com credit card, I could get $30 off my purchase. Is it worth it? I already use a Discover card now, and I have a few other credit cards as well that I don't use. Would it be bad for my credit to open up a new one?

Alright so i went to the hosipital they did some test and found NOTHING....gave me vicodiin called it good. Anyways i have a hospital bill thats $700 now i know thats not a lot but right now it is for me. I just got put on seasonal unemployment and make only enough to pay my rent and BARELY scrap by on bills....now i know you can work with creditors to pay a montly amount but your just raking up the interest and just paying WAY more. Is there any kind of paper work you can file other than bankruptsy since its such a small amount? Hate to see my credit slowly getting ruined for some very small bill.

My account was frozen by a collection agency. They have a judgement against me. I never got notice this was going to court. They sent it to my former address. It wasn't until my account was frozen that I got this info. They are threatning to garnish my wages. Is there something I can do to fix it? or stop them

I have recently been getting calls and letters sent to my home from a collection agency that claims I owe $400, it does not say what I owe for. I have never had any credit cards, or have taken or used credit, could this be a scam?

I want to file a complaint against a collection agency with the Attorney General's office. I'm in Pennsylvania but they are in New York. Do I file with the Pennsylvania AG, the New York AG, or both? The company is National Action Financial Services--they are awful!

im 18, unemployed student.
I want a credit card in order 2 build rating 4 mortgage.
What card can I get with no credit rating which wont cost me anything if I pay of the full balance?
What costs r there apart from interest and annual fees that i might get charged if i use it over the counter + pay of balance with direct debit?
Is there a less risky way of building rating? (less hidden fees, somthing i can understand)

I had 6 student loans equaling a total of $20,000 from 2 different companies. My mistake was i didn't put them into forebarence in time i was late about 2 months. One of the companies wiped it off my credit, the other showed that i had been late. I decided to consolidate my loans with the company that wiped it off my credit. My question is will this help my credit because with the company that had the late payment the loans will have been paid off and with the other i will have been current on all of my payments? Thanks for the help.

However, I would rather charge the $8,000 balance due to my credit card so I would get the points on my card. In order to do this, I would have to present the credit card to the bank holding the car loan? Will they let me do that.

I recently went through a nasty divorce and had to pay a lot to my ex husband AND got to keep all the credit card debt. I have been unable to make payments on 1 card, they are willing to settle, and I need to take this oppurtunity. Other than that card, my credit is/was excellent. Is there any way I can try to get them to not report it as "settled"?

I owe $8,000 in car payments to a bank. I would like to pay it off in one fell swoop using my credit card (my credit limit allows this). Will the bank I owe the money to let me "charge" the rest?

I have an old, paid collection account that was opened in 11/98 and reported 12/98 on my credit. Shouldn't this be off my report by now? Can I dispute this to get this off the negative account report?
