I have an old, paid collection account that was opened in 11/98 and reported 12/98 on my credit. Shouldn't this be off my report by now? Can I dispute this to get this off the negative account report?

I was told that bad credit can stay on for 7 years, but then I was told it could actually be 7 to 10 years. But like another person said call the credit report agancy they can tell you, and also when you get a report from tranunion.com they'll also put when the bad debt is coming off.

I thought bad credit goes back 7 years but I'm not sure.
