So we went to look at a condo today and fell in love with it! We are wanting to move around June or July (next summer). We know that we can more than afford it. They are asking around 150,000 and our combined income for a month is around 100,000. We have little debt which consists of a car payment, a student loan payment, a credit card with a balance of $500 and a loan payment for a bed that I purchased. Our concern is our credit. It is not perfect due to late payments in our past. The realtor says that it is a buyers market and mortage companies will compete more for customers due to it being a buyers market. Any suggestions?

I'm looking to repair my poor credit rating. I owe 10k+ to various creditors. I'm married, we both have a decent paying jobs. My spouse has credit problems as well. Here are my concerns:
1. Are there any immediate steps that I should take to get started?

2. What is considered a "good" score to have when buying a house?

3. What short term steps (6 months to 1 year period) can I take to bring my rating up to a "moderate" level?

4. What long-term steps can I take to make for the future so that I do not fall back to where I am now?

5. I know that some credit counselling services are predatory in nature, and actually put people into more trouble than they had to begin with. Are there any reputable credit counselling services out there (preferably non-profit)?

I was at the store and was purchasing a pack of gum, I handed the clerk my credit card to pay for it and she examined it, looked it all over, showed it to all the employees, then demanded ID saying that the name on the card doesnt look like its my real name when she doesnt even know me, this is the second time this has happened and im sick of it, is this an invasion of privacy? this happened in NY so what laws were broken? I could use links to a law website stating this is legal or illegal please.

My wife and I are planning on moving to Texas and when we do we want to buy a home as opposed to renting.
My wife has a 630 credit rating and I have a 625 credit rating. However, I had a bankruptcy discharge in my name only one year ago.

Will we qualify and what should we expect a monthly payment to be on a $140,000 home. Can we get zero down? What kind of interest rate should we expect?

Any help would be appreciated.
David

If I am 19, have never had a credit card before, have never been in debt, don't really have a credit record (I presume), am planning to pay off my balance every month, and am planning to use it for online purchases?
How can I compare interest rates, etc? What are some good questions to ask when getting a credit card?

My friend is losing her house due to foreclosure. She had a hard enough time telling me out of embarrassment, so I didn't want to ask alot of questions. How many months behind do you usually have to be to be foreclosed on and I am assuming if the mortgage holder cannot sell or auction the house for at least the loan pay-off, they later garnish her for their loss?

When I went to lease a vechile, I could not get the car due to lack of credit history. I had my mom put the vechile lease/loan in her name, and I made the payments on the car. Now that I'm establishing credit in other ways, I was wondering if it would be possible to refinance the lease in my name?

I'm thinking about getting a credit card to build my credit, and I was just wondering if anyone out there knew if you can use your debit card to pay off a credit card bill? I've always just used my debit card to pay for my purchases, and that way I always knew I didn't spend more than I had. That hasn't helped me build any credit though.

I had my debit card stolen a two months ago. I did report it and made a claim to Wells Fargo. They told me that they were going to give me credit and returned my money. Well, a month later they send me a letter telling me that they are going to reverse that credit cuz they had serious doubts about my debit card being stolen and so now my account is over -$2,000 and they want me to pay them by the end of this month. I told him there was no way I could pay them all that money cuz I'm pregnant, not working, and have a loved one in jail. This account was for college. The lady told me that if I didn't pay that they were going to have to report me to the credit bureau and their checks system. They told me that system will close my bank account and won't let me open any new account at any bank for 5 years. I wanted to know if anyone has experienced this and if its true about not being able to open another bank account?

I rent, and pay all my bills on time including electric, phone, etc, and I paid off all my student loans in full. I have a 403b at work where I contribute 10% of my pay check. But what else can I do? I haven't been able to open a line of credit because of past delinquency on a card (which is now paid in full and closed). My credit score is right around 620.

Sometimes new clients of a particular company ask for the company's "credit rating". What is the supplier supposed to provide and what is to be done in the case of a newly established business when this information might not be available ?
