If you have a bank account, you may consider asking your bank for a credit card. They may require that it be secured, which means you would have say $500 in an account that you couldn't touch, and you would be borrowing against that money and paying it back. Then use it for gas and groceries and pay it back every month. After a while (six months or so) you can apply for a real credit card, they will see you can pay, and will probably say yes and offer you a higher credit limit. As long as you use the cards, but don't really appear to need the cards, they keep raising your limits. For credit scores to be good once you get your cards, you don't want to have the cards charged up above 30% of the total value. Stay away from Capital One, they do more injury than good to people's credit scores.
You can also try jewelry stores and electronic stores if they have anything you want to buy.
There are other ways too, but they take some major explaining. So if you are curious, email me and I'll respond. Part of how you better your credit has to do with why you want it improved. What is your goal and why?

You can head to a local bank and get a "secured credit card". we used "US BANK"
STAY THE HELL AWAY FROM "CAPITAL ONE" AND ANYTHING AFFILIATED WITH THEM!! They need help!!
This simply means you give them an amount, lets say$1000. They have it in an account for you and you get a card. You use your card monthly and when the bill comes you pay it all off each month and carry NO BALANCE !! Do this for the approx 1 year or however long the agreement is set up for. You then get your $1000 back and an increased credit limit on your card.
Soooooooooo simple... Your credit history has now begun !
Be sure to pay off your card every month!! Soon you will get more offers in the mail but simply cut them up and move on. Two credit cards is all you need in life. Remember ONLY YOU can make your financial life a good one! DO NOT get into debt!

Start with any college credit cards. College credit cards will take any person who wants credit. Also a good way is to get a store credit card. Macy's will take anyone. Just keep paying your bills on time to show the credit cards that you are doing well and you're a good customer. Then eventally after a year of good payments and stuff you can get the other credit cards.
