I was wondering whether or not it would be a good idea for me being 17 with no credit history to get a credit card and start using it for like 50-100 dollar purchases so I can start establishing a good credit report now for the future. I was planning simply using it for those ranges of purchases, not for like plasma screen TVs or anything above $100 or so that I couldn't pay off as soon as the bill arrives, plus I was going to pay it long before it's due date. Does this sound like a good or bad idea or something risky?

The first is a secured card, the second is unsecured with 0% APR til April. The first has a very high APR and I would like to close it. What happens when you close a secured credit card account. Can you pay off your balance with the collateral money used to get the card or do you have to pay the balance off and then wait for them to send you the money? Also, does closing a credit card account, even paid in full and having been only opened less than a year, give you bad credit?

I'm 23 years old and I've applied for a bunch of credit cards over the past six months, now that I have my first real job out of college and want to establish some credit. However, every card I apply for rejects me because I have no recorded credit history. I can't even seem to get one of those gas station cards.

Sorry if this question gets asked a lot, but I'm tired of getting rejected left and right.

I have 5 major credit cards. I pay off all my balances every month on time. My credit score is good.

Is it better to use all the credit cards in turn, or is it Ok to use only one card and leave the others for emergency only, to maintain a good credit score? In other words, would my credit score be better, if I use all my credit cards and pay them off every month, instead of charging on one and paying off just one?

I have over 10 credit cards with a credit line of about 100K. I pay all my bills on time. I have no balances on my credit cards. I have an excellent credit score of 820.

But I am tired of taking care of so many cards and I want to close most of them; may be keep about 4-5. Would this lower my credit score?

Please reply only if you have a definite knowledge about the subject. No guesswork or opinions please.

I am planning to buy a new house in about 6 months and I like to be on the right track, as far as possible. Thanks.

Hello all. I am basically posting this about myself and feel pretty helpless. For the past few years, I have been very Independent financially, working hard at my jobs and have taken out quite a few loans (Credit cards, loans). Recently, I decided to quit my 2nd job and 1st job and now have been between jobs for the past 3 months. I have two new jobs lined up, but the debt is overwhelming, I can't move in with anyone to catch up (my parents wont help) and have even contiplated bankruptsy at this young age. Is there any other solution out there to help someone as young and stupid as I (lol)? Any good and/or practical advice would be helpful.
